Okay, I have a question. Let's say people do choose to be gay.

Now, why would anyone that HAS a brain (yes oh my dear sweet jesus gay people have brains too!) choose to go through such bigoted discrimination and hate in their life? If you can tell me that, then I shall have an even greater amount of respect for you.

I attempted to read the posts to this string, but I just couldn't because they made me so furious!!!

First off, why does it matter!! To all of you straight people (and I am straight too), why does it even really soncern you? If the person isn't trying to sodomize you then why do you care?

Everyone always talks about love being the greatest feeling in the world. But how would you feel if every day you got screamed at and hit and beat and teased and jumped, JUST because your a little bit different.

And if we're going the "it's like alcoholism" way, then look at it this way. Do you shun people, hurt people, just because they drink a little too much?

Why can't you just be happy for these wonderful people. They fell in love and are happy. Isn't that all that really matters.

And if your christian (which I am), then why does it concern you so badly if your not the one that is supposably going to hell.

The reason that God says in the bible that it's a sin for a man to lay with a man, was solely because it caused a man's "seed" to go to waste. SO DO CONDOMS!!!! SO DOES MASTURBATION!! So does the millions of other things that people do on a normal basis.

Does it really matter weather you agree with them or not?

This is a rediculous easy question. People choose to be gay because they have been told by society that they are the victims. And when one is lumped into a category, one identifies and shapes themself to their views. The Looking Glass theory says that "I am who I think you think I am". When people choose to be gay, they are turned into the victims, making it seem like they cant help being gay. The fact is, people have many instances of cognitive dissonance that lead them to choose options that arent always normal. Why do somepeople turn to drugs to escape from their problems? Some people are unconciously led to homosexuality. They can change it, but they dont believe that. Its that simple. Gay people are gay because they choose to keep the belief that they are gay. People question their sexuality, that is pretty typical of adolescents, but when people begin to think they have no control then they render any "choice" in the matter to be wisked away and have to point to other factors.

I don't think people choose to be gay. I think it is all in their preference. A gay friend of mine told me he preferred men so that he could be rough with them while having sex. Another gay friend told me she preferred dating girls, even though she had been with boys sexually, because girls were more attractive to her. I don't think gay people ( I hate putting them in a category) want to go through bigoted discrimination and hate, I think they just want to be happy with who they are as a person, even though many may not accept it.

one of my best friends that i had a crush on came out of the closet this year and told me he was gay, later that day i asked him how he knew and he said he knew because even when he was in kindergarten he would always crush on boys not girls

i had always been confused aboutgay people but with him it seemed fine,

that whole year i did have to help him through a lot of pain with people calling him fag and leving hate notes in his locker

but in a way this did help me understand even more than i could've wihtout him.
and he found out who his true friends were.
me included and still best friends today

I don't think you can really choose to be gay. The chooser probably wouldn't enjoy their relationships as much as they would with someone of their naturally proffered gender. Such as a gay can't really choose to be straight. Its human nature.

I don't think people can just choose to be gay. I mean, you can't just wake up one day and decide you wanna date someone of the same sex. Feelings are uncontrollable. Whomever a person likes, will be the person they like! Nobody should be judged on the people they date. It should be as the saying goes, "Whatever floats your boat." People who are homosexuals have feelings just like everyone else. There should be no need to hide it, but i feel that the people who DO discriminate against gays & lesbians have a problem accepting themselves so they put their anger into hating someone else. I mean, what does a person being homosexual have anything to do with you? If you were best friends with someone for a long period of time, and they just confessed that they were homosexual, would you just stop being their friend even though you love that person dearly & has been friends with them for a number of years?! Let me say one thing, I KNOW I wouldn't. You know how I know? This is exactly what happened to me. I met this girl, who I became SUCH good friends with. I thought she was straight, because at the time I met her, she was in a relationship, and I thought she had a boyfriend. A while later, she was single again. I was very close to her for years, and one day, Her best friend and her told me she was not straight, and that she was a lesbian. Of course, I was in shock! But, since I do care so much for her, of course I won't change a thing for her. I continued to be such good friends with her and we're still very close! :]

Just because one "chooses" to be gay, doesn't mean they will automatically be prone to violence. There are alot of contributing factors to that. Plus, there's more to being queer (let's open this up to the whole community) than, again, the possibility of violence. If you could be with somebody who really and truely makes you happy, isn't that worth it?

I am a Christian. That doesn't mean I hate gays, if I did hate any one that would make my faith false. I do my bests to try to be understanding of everyone and show love to people no matter what. But the truth is the truth. It doesn't matter if we like what we hear or not. God has made it clear to the world that He does not approve of homosexuality. Now just because that is so it doesn't mean there is no hope for you. God loves everyone and wants us all to go to heaven. If you only confess your sins to God and ask for forgiveness you can be freed from you sins. Don’t think that you are beyond recovery, there is always a way.

yeah... everyone has the right to be happy.
but not everyone believes that. some people believe that it's wrong because it is 'unnatural'. which is complete bullcrap. it's not always about wanting someone to be happy or not when we're talking about discrimination. some people discriminate simply because they view the whole thing as 'wrong' and 'disgraceful'. it's also sometimes a case of misunderstanding and being afraid of what is being misunderstood: some people simply can't accept that homosexuals love just as heterosexuals do.
and that's what it boils down to. love. not an overwhelming desire (if you're a man) to bend another man over backwards. not a huge irresistible urge to *ahem* never mind what i was going to say. it's not always about the lust. and some heterosexuals (and closet homosexuals) fail to realise that.

whatever, i have no problem whatsoever with gay people. funny thing is im catholic...but who really knows for sure what God wants. but for me, evryone has the right to be happy people who are gay shouldn't be discriminated against, you are who you are, we had enough problems with recognizing that black people are a "people", so why not jus give every other group struggling for their place some slack?
