Hi everyone, Personally I choose to wait till I am out of high school to date. I am 17 and ave never been out on a date. It is my belief that dating when you are not ready for marriage is self-centered (not saying that you are selfish to date) but you find a boyfriend or girlfriend based on how they make you feel. You spend time with someone when they make you happy. I plan to start dating when I am more prepared to have a serious relationship. Thanks for listening to my opinion. Trinity

Way a go ephesians. Give me five!!!!! hehe I'm just kidding!!
No really, that's smart of you to figure that out at your age. To figure out what you want and when you want it. It shows your wise in making choices and you don't follow the "in crowd", you follow your heart.
I'm not saying people who do date in High School are following the "in crowd" or they aren't smart and wise in making choices. I'm just congratulating ephesians choice.
THAT'S ALL PLEASE DON'T TELL ME OFF.
Me, myself never had a boyfriend and I never plan on having a boyfriend. I don't want to hurt the guy so better off me not getting close to any guy whosoever.
I would say I do think about it sometimes. However, that feeling is only a feeling that goes with time.
Yea, I don't let myself like guys neither but when they are really, extremely nice to me, it's hard not to. There's a lot of guys that have been really nice to me and some I liked and some I didn't like in that way. I don't know why I have liked some and have not liked others in that same way.
I don't think it's about the looks because I really don't pay any attention to a guy until they start to talk to me. Then when they are really nice, I like them either as a friend or something more as they usually refer it to. However, I don't know what makes me like some guys and not like others the same wway. It's something else other than looks but I don't know what and I'm not willing to find out.
I got my first crush last year and then I started getting more crushes after that. It was kind of scary for me. It was a new experience and a new feeling. I ignored it though and went on with my life.
Anyways, no guy ever liked me and no guy ever will.
I might sound like I am making a bad choice here to many of you. However, I don't know how to be a girlfriend and I don't want to hurt the guy and odds are i will and I really don't want to. So, I rather be alone forever instead of hurt a guy.
Wow, iluvjp, your post gave me a new sense of having a boyfriend. THANK YOU!!!!! You actually made my day for some unknown reason that I have to figure out first. I don't know what it is, but I'm actually happy to read your post, I feel like relieved!!!!!!!!!!!
Weird!!!!!!!
Bye N Have a nice day

Good point. I have a boyfriend and I'm only 14 but we don't go out on dates or anything. We just see each other at school or with our families. But, I support your decision and good luck.

I do think that dating in high school is a good way to practice for 'more serious' relationships you might have later on. But that doesn't mean I want to date with just anybody! If it isn't going to mean anything then I don't think I'd bother. I've never dated anybody and I wonder if I'm going to get a boyfriend before I leave high school… Other than the obvious having-crushes-on-people scenario, this general lack of romance wouldn't bother me so much, but I worry that when I'm into the 'serious' relationships later on I won't have a clue.

I think that a lot of dating in high school is just practice for when people get serious relationships later on. There are exceptions of course, but I'd say before the age of 16 very few relationships are serious. It's like they're test runs. I'm beginning to realise I have a bit of a different attitude to a lot of teenagers and take it more seriously. I don't think I've ever wanted something casual where neither one actually cares much. I've always thought it all through in the context of would he actually make a good match for me and would it actually last very long. Good on you for deciding to wait, considering there's such a lot of pressure to have a boyfriend in high school, and good luck. However if it was me and the right guy came along, I don't know if I'd stick to that waiting-till-I-leave-school rule.

What kind of junk is that? Learning their traits, yeah right peoples taste change just as much as I change my draws. Come on you can not be serious! People are never set in there ways at any time in their lives thats the beauty of being a human, we can change our views and likes and dislikes at anytime. Oh and as for the traits you like in a guy. Thats just it what traits? Their 3 haired go tee or all of the pimples? You sound like you are 15 going on 30. Realationships in high school are the bassis for your argument then have I got a offer for you, how about you give me a 100 dollars and then I can tell you that you will grow more and you will most likely get older and meet people you dont like and work with people who get on your nerves and you will even eat food when you are older. How about that! I bet you would make a psycic real happy.

Outspokenme, I understand what you mean about learning what traits you like and don't like in guys. Most of my friends are guys so I still get to experience what I like and don't like in them. I also am not put into any situations that might cause me temptation. Thanks for your reply. Trinity

I suppose what you say is logical. However, I think dating in high school is quite a learning experience. I've learned what traits I absolutely cannot stand in a guy, and which I definitely need to have, and can get.
My parents have always told me to not get too serious with guys, because I am so young, and marriage is at least several years off. I'd have to agree, which is why I mostly stay out of relationships in general, only flirting and taunting with the guys. Laid back, not serious, just the way it should be, because, hell, I'm 15!
