If you think about it, the world is all about money. You have to pay, in money, to live. You have to buy food, you have to pay for a place to live, which makes sense, but medicine. my mom just had surgery, and she needs estrogen shots, so when im in the pharmacy, people are buying 1 pill, for 99 dollars, just to live happily. is that the cost of life

i know what you mean. but part of the reason for high prices other than that we pay for other's medical care as well through tax $dollars$ but we are also paying the people who invented the drug. and it is crazy the amount of money that people pay for some of their drugs. my cousin has kidney disease. she gets about 500 dollars a month from disability and medicare pays for all of her drugs (she takes a lot of them, a handfull everyday). that's all fine and dandy right now. but she's on a transplant list and if she gets a transplant and doesn't reject the kidney then she's stuck w/ the bill for all of her drugs which could run her 1500 dollars a month. that's hard to afford even when you do have a good paying job. she doesn't work at all. you're right it's not fair. but what can you do to fight the system. everyone needs to be paid. but are dying people worth the cost?

i think the cost of prescription drugs is absolutely ridiculous. i know not everyone is like me, but my medicines cost about $500 each month...with insurance. my mom, who had renal(kidney) failure, also racks up quite the bill with her meds (which is completely aside from the $18,000 worth of treatment she receives each WEEK...no, we personally don't pay that all out of pocket) and mhy dad at about $100 each month. i know it's for your health and life and all, but when do you have to draw the line and say "that's too much." if it wasn't for insurance (and i think eventually medicare will help her) my family of 4 (1 in college, me going to college next year) would be so far into debt that there'd probably be no way out. besides about a million other reasons, i'm mad at george bush for the lack of attention and funding he has put into this matter. i understand that not everyone can see this as such a major problem if they don't have to see it every day, but shouldn't the PRESIDENT, who is supposed to be leading us and making decisions that will affect us be aware that this is getting to a scary point? yeah, he's addressed some issues and says he'll do things, but wasn't this the same 4 years ago? when health care was even better?? i don't know if anyone else is picking up on a trend here..... unfortunately i will not be able to vote in this election (missed the cutoff by 3 months), but i am doing what i can in my school and community to express my opinions...if everyone could see what it does, i don't know if they'd punch the same hole. i hope anyone else who reads this can help spread the word because i know there are people in worse situations than my own family, who don't have financial coverage, and they really need your help. kids can make a difference...send a petition to your local legislator, write letters, anything you can. i would truly appreciate any efforts.

The reason medicines and doctors are so expensive is because we pay for the medical care of everyone who cannot pay and ourselves. However unfair this may seem, this is the way it is until someone puts a better system into effect.

I don't get why we have to pay so much money for medication and other things. I think it's sort of a big rip off it's not fair that instead of donating a few extra dollars to a charity you donate some to doctors who already make more than enough money. But you could always go back to the old days and just camp forever then you could live life how you wanted except you would still lhave to pay for medical things, but you wouldn't have to pay for house insuranse or anything elselike that. but some assprin or tylenol would never hurt you.
