What do you think of the whole Abstinence thing, you know, with Bush being against comdoms and other methods of birth controal, including the Morning After Pill (which, btw, would be put to use in the case of rape, which Bush has banned in the US)?

I think that Absinence is good, in theory. It is unrealistic to expect that an entire country will stop having sex when they don't want a child just because of extra effort being put on abstinence. By limiting methods of birth controal, Bush is creating unwanted babies that migh end up being aborted (i'm pretty much pro-life, so abortion to me is a bad thing) or raised by someone that is not ready to have a child, as well as spreading STDs. I know that, I, personally would not have sex untill i'm older (atleast out of high school), but i'm also pretty sure that this is NOT the case with many people.

Yes, but is your health teacher married? Is she also not an adult, with a job and physical, emotional and financel means of protecting her child? There is a big difference between teenage pregnancy and adult pregnancy.

I personally beleive that Bush is wrong to limit Sex-Ed to abstinence only. Teenagers need to know how to protect themselves, and a whole lot of other stuff that isn't covered in abstinence only education.
I come from a small town where only 1 or 2 girls get pregnant a year in my high school- yes that is nice, but do you really think that those 2 girls are the only ones actually having sex? NO! of course not! Many people in high school (and middle school, too unfortunately) are having sex, and I believe that they should be able to get the right facts about it from Sex-ed classes that are not only about abstinence.
I, personally am a VIRGIN-and I will stay one until I get married, but I do not discrimate or look down upon those who aren't.. no one should. I have many friends that are having sex, and haven't been propperly informed about it. All we are fed at my school is bologne about "JUST DON'T DO IT!".. Well that isn't enough! Adults need to step it up and inform us about the risks, and how to protect ourselves from those risks!
Then of course- there is religion! I, personally am a Christian, but like I said earlier, I don't look down upon those who aren't. What gets me is when people claim to be religious and then they go on and on about how people shouldn't be having sex. Yes in the Bible it does say to wait. They are right about that, but does it also say not to judge others? Of course it does! And does it not say that "Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone"? Of course it does! Get my point? People: whether you beleive in something or not- others may have a different opinion and are still going to do it. So don't just judge them and condem them.
-Just remember..."Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone"-the Bible
Thanks for reading my thoughts and I'm sorry if I have offended anyone.

I believe in abstinance, but it;s not a religous thing, and I don't think that everyone "has" to do it, but I feel that waiting will be much better.

i agree. I think that it is unrealistic to expect an entire country, and entire culture to stop haveing sex. If that is his goal then he needs to filter the media and such things that encourage and refer to sex. Sex is a natural instinct. But we as a social society see it as wrong and dirty. Bush has seemed to have not consider things like, what if a married couple doesn't want to have children? by taking away condoms and birth control he's taking away there dicission not to get pregnent. And like you said with STDs and such. Also, absitence is closely associated with religion. And i'm here to say that not everyone is religious. And people are going to do what theyre going to do. You can't put a law on human nature. whatever.
Bush is just a silly old man.

Plan B, or the morning after pill.

It is NOT an abortion pill. In fact, you must take a pregnany test before they'll administer it to you. If you're pregnant, you're stuck! If you're not pregnant, then you can take it. All it is is an extra-high dosage of birth control. You take one pill right away, and the other in about 12 hours. This tricks your body into thinking that it's pregnant so it doesn't accept sperm already in your body.

I used to have sex with this one guy regularly, until I realized what a two-faced guy he was. He didn't use condoms, but I was on birth control, so he thought it was okay. It wasn't okay to me!! He turned out to be a real jerk, and at one point, I thought I might be pregnant, so I got Plan B. I'm glad I didn't get pregnant, because it gave me a few days to re-evaluate the situation with this guy, and realize that I wanted to be abstinent again. Sex isn't worth the nervousness of waiting for your period, especially when the guy you're with doesn't have to worry about it!

Organizations that give condoms and birth control out have a really tough time getting funding from the government, which makes me quite angry. If kids are having sex, then the organizations that the government fund can only say, "Well, you shouldn't be having sex!" instead of teaching them about safe sex and reminding them that the only fool-proof way is abstinence.

All organizations should at least be able to give out condoms, which protect from STDs (which birth control doesn't) AND pregnancy (thought not as well as birth control).

However, birth control is hard to remember...you have to take it every single day at about the same time, or else it won't work!

It's more work than it's worth, as it turned out...so I'm definitely someone who's returned to abstinence only!

It is unrealistic to expect people not to have sex if they don't want a baby. I also thought the morning after pill was a good idea.

just a comment towards the origional post. one thing i learned is that yes, the morning after pill is legal and religiously ok. in certain cases. the church/pro-life stuff says it's ok to use the morning after pill in cases of rape where the victim seeks immidiate medical attention. just to clear that up.

I smile because I have NO idea what's going on.

And also why would Bush be against condoms? That doesn't make any sense, even if he is as stupid as people say he is. I don't think he's against birth control, I think he's against sex between unmarried couples who rely on birth control to keep them safe.

Adults and "health teachers" as you say tell us not to have sex because kids obviously don't understand or care about the consequences of it. If your teacher is pregnant and not married, she's trying to warn you against not becoming like her. Who knows, maybe she had sex and the man just left her after he found out she was pregnant. It's hard to be a mom, it's even harder to be a single mom.

If you're under 18, and want to have sex, that's your own choice. Personally, I think sex should be performed when both partners are able to handle the consequences. And any kid who thinks they can is an ass, because unless you're the son or daughter of some spoiling rich bastard who will shower money on you and your child born out of wedlock, you cannot comprehend childbirth and childcare. You will lose 18 years of your life if you are not ready.

U could get hit by a car tommorow, tommorow is not garanteed, so if a chick wants me n i fancy her im not going to say "sorry i might get a disease of you" or "what r u stupid, u might get pregnant". Take the nessesary precautions yes, abstain no.
An to those who say no sex till marriage on religous grounds:
Religion is based on the fact it can not be disproved.
Marriage is now merely a legal document, no more
(u can get divorced as many times as u want).
U might be killed before u can marry.
