You can always stop. Your body doesn't need it, it merely thinks you do because you're so addicted. It's always possible to stop smoking, even if it's difficult.

I don't really see how there can be a good reason to smoke. I'm not trying to pry into your life, risika...if anyone can give what they feel would be a good reason, that would be good.

Smoking gave my grandmother, whom I love more than anyone in the entire world, emphysema.

It's bad.

I tried my first ciragette yesterday.

Eugh. Really, I hated it. Never doing that number again.

Well, I smoke for a reason. A good one, but I'm not going to share that because it's personal. Besides, if I die from smoking, at least it'll be a peaceful death.

If I may add: Smoking is truly disgusting. Bad breath, teeth, skin, breathing problems, short life, expensive!, harmful to everyone. I don't understand why people smoke, wait I do, its b/c when they are young they get addicted. They need the nicotine (sp?). Thats why they invented the patch.

Since YN isn't letting me edit my own post. I meant 4000+ chemicals. Including poisons like acetone (paint stripper), butane (lighter fuel), and naphthalene (mothballs), nicotine, naphthalene, methanol, hydrogen cyanide, DDT, carbon monoxide, arsenic and ammonia.

Hmm..2000+ chemicals going into your body isn't considered moderation. Not by anyone's standards.

Um, YES, smoking kills. Once or twice in a life time won't kill you, but when you become "a smoker" than you will die due to the poison in your lungs.

If you don't believe me, believe my aunt. Believe my cousin. Believe my grandfather. The only reason he quit was because my mother wouldn't let him near me when I was born until he stopped. So he did. And, at 75 he looked better than at 68 when he'd been smoking.

I've got pictures to prove it.

I'm a smoker.. but those of us who say i've tried to quit but i can't are lieing. Many things in life are an addiction.. just as smoking is one. Wacthing the OC is a addiction for me.. but i can go without it. Same goes for smoking.. if you want to quit then quit. Yeah the first 48 hours suck, you want the nicotine.. but after that your good to go. I've quit a 10 times in a year.. and the only reason i pick it up again is because i feel like smoking.

Anyhoo, kids, let's face it. Smoking is 'getting a motorcycle' for the under 18 crowd. You aren't an adult, you can't drink, vote, be President, own a car...etc. Ooh, look, I'm smoking -- I'm so dangerous and wise. I KNOW it's killing me but GOD, the STRESS. What? Exercise? No, no, it looks cooler if I smoke. I'm badass. I'm anti-establishment. I'm motha****ing James Dean.

Honestly, I don't care if any of you smoke. I'm not dating you, nor am I related to you. But maybe, you should take a good look at the people around you. If they encourage or faciliate your smoking, maybe they don't care as much about you as you thought.

Don't tell me the results don't balance out. This is a personal opinion. I know the reprocussions and feel the risk is worth it.

okay wow, if smoking is a good way to "relieve boredom" then you have no imagination.

wow...people actually agree with me! I'm so excited.

but yeah voice, my grandfather smoked a long time ago before it came out how unhealthy, life-threatening they were and he quit. I admire him because when he found out, he just threw away all his cigarettes and never smoked again. Thats why I get annoyed when people quit and then pick it up again (like my dads friend) because its "too hard".

my great uncle smoked like a smoke-stack (which later killed him of lung cancer) but the sad thing is is that he gave his wife second-hand smoke and later killed her as well.

I can understand why a lot of our GRANDPARENTS smoked.

But seriously, knowing all the risks today and STILL smoking? Come on people, let's be a bit more intelligent than THAT!

My aunt just had a quadruple bi-pass(sp?) caused from smoking. And you know what? Her son and his wife, though he has the same shaped heart as my aunt and they all live together in the same house SMOKE!

Now, see, that there, is just plain DUMB.
