For two years I worked in an Applebees, and I could not believe the things that were going on there! Does anybody else work in restaurants who feel/have felt the same?

The food was handled entirely improperly, everything in the kitchen was unsanitary. Dishes didn't get clean, cooks didn't wear gloves, food was dropped on the floor and left there for hours. People would go out back and smoke pot on their breaks!

I still am completely appalled (sp?) by what went on there. Anyone with me?

This post scares me, but we all somewhat know that whenever you go somewhere other than your home for food, you're going to have to accept that it may not always properly be prepared.

lol, i work at tim hortons. It's quite clean for a food place, but we do have a serious ant problem because of all the sugar from the coffees we make.

Any food place is dirty.

However, when we make sandwiches and stuff we always wear gloves...

I've never worked at a restaraunt, but my dad told me some stories...
He used to work at a tomato sauce cannery, a generic brand I think, and he said you wouldn't believe the things they let get cooked into the sauce!
Old/Rotten tomatoes, stems, dirt on the veggies, ...oh and the occasional RAT!!!

The food world is disguting which is why I have adopted a special policy about it
"Don't work there, don't think about it, if no one dies there then you're good. Oh, and if the guy behind the counter, or any other employee looks sick, dirty, greasy, 'like-he-wants-to-spit-in-your-food'... LEAVE!!!"

Lol well you just completely exposed them! I haven't worked at a restaurant but I can imagine things like this happening. I think smoking pot is alright as long as you can still function, especially at work. The unsanitary state of there kitchen? That should be supervised by someone. That's pretty gross. I guess as long as you don't do the same, no worries.
