Know what amazes me? Gas prices are going through the roof and yet the oil industry are making record highs, and recently many people are getting HUGE bonuses to there nifty check. And gas prices here are about $2.97 (regular).

$3.50 per gallon where I live. It's been steadily climbing for months now. It constantly amazes me how the national average is as low as $3 per gallon, since it's always been higher where I live. Of course, that's probably because of Washington's gas tax...

Eh, don't count on it. Not that I live on the MI/OH border, but gas in Ohio by me has been 3.19 for over two weeks. I remember I filled up my car one day and it was 2.99 and I got really pissed off, and then the next day it was 3.19 and it hasn't changed since. Really put things in perspective lol...But I'm really sick of it being so expensive. It's been long enough. What happened to a couple months ago when it was almost 1.99?

It's been fluctuating between $3.059 and $3.259 where I am (metro Detroit). Hopefully when I go to the MI/OH border this weekend, gas will be cheaper and I can fill up. My mom was upset because I told her that her and my dad could go to the boat early and I would take my sister to her vocal recital and we could meet them down there...but I would expect payment of $10 to make up for the amount of gas I'd be using. Gas prices are so high, because fossil fuels are becoming harder to find and get a hold of. Also I think that some people are only thinking of themselves and being greedy.

Well, actually, most of the cars built in the past 10 or more years have engines that can support ethanol. Also, ethanol is slowly being mixed in our gasoline, I think its 5%, I'm not sure. I'd look up all the official information but I really should be writing a paper right now But I think this explains what is going on right now: http://www.ethanol.org/index.php?id=34&parentid=8

Hydrogen fuel cell powered cars arent creating hydrogen, they're breaking it down. and the cars arnt powered on water either, they create water. The process starts by filling the tank up, Hydrogen is very impratical to store, it only has one valence electron and is therefore unstable, it also is a Gas (not liquid) so they store it as ethanol because it has an OH molecule in it. Now it is sent to somthing similar to a catalayic converter and those atoms are seperated and the oxygen lingers the Hydrogen rushes into the fuels cell and then combines with two oxygen molecules, this combining creates the electricity needed to power the motor in thosse cars. Now you have H20 which exits out of the car. Currently the fuel source is very inefficint, due to the converter wasting 1 in every 3 hydrogegen Atoms for later recombining and then the fuel cell wastes more which fail to combine with the oxygen then you have the weight of the car and the weakness of the electic motor which pull you at about 30 miles per hour (about the speed I hold on level road with my bicycle) you're looking at about 30% fuel efficiency rather than an ethanol powered car's 57% (and those put out enough power to be comparable to a modern Honda Civic 175 ft-lb of torque and 150 horses aint bad for alcahol)

Yes it has, but at the moment there is one gas powered car for every 5 people in America Imagine just taking hose off the road overnight. No one would have transportation. In order to use the ethanol special parts have to be put in the cars (since its an alcahol its very corrosive) and the compression ratios are so different. People would have to do so many mods to their cars to get them just to tur over using this fuel that its better to slowly introduce it. Imagine your paying off a 20,000 dollar vehicle and the next day its worthless because gas isn't available at pumps anymore. So now you are still paying for the car, but noone else is gonna want it. Well time to open a museum. I support alternate fuel sources so that we can drop the cost of transportation BUt its gotta be gradual. Who knows, when people start buying the flex fuel vehicles in larger numbers, maybe it will take demand off gas and drop its prices for both fuel sources.

Gas has been 2.24 for a while. And the focus isn't really hydrogen. I've thought ethanol has been a great idea from the start. I'm so happy it is finally being integrated into our fuel. Its been a little slow going but in a few years it will really kick off.

I saw gas for $2.399 today. I SOOO wanted to stop; I'm at just under a half tank. However...the gas I last filled up with made my "check engine" light go on and so I want to get rid of as much of it as I can before I go mixing in some not bad gas...
