the main thing I dont like about Wal-Mart is that you have to be 18 or older to work there. If the age was lowered to 16, it open so many jobs for kids in my town. But oh no, the average age of a Wal-Mart worker is an 80 year old woman! And no offense to our elders, but they are so slow and they have to stop and look at every single thing youre buying instead of just scanning it and putting it in a bag. Its as simple as that.

Fewer. I cringe when I go to the local walmart because their express lane said "12 items or less" when it should have been fewer.

Wal-mart has to exploit workers in order for them to save you all the money. If Walmart had good ethics, it would have to pay decent wages and then would have to charge the same amount if not more than other stores.

wow clpo, I feel so out of it because I've never heard of those you mentioned besides Target, Old Navy, and Best Buy. We do have a Winn-Dixie here (which is just a southern chain I think) but Wal-Mart is putting all of them out of business, so I think they are going to close here soon. And yes, I hate Home Depot too! We have one next to our Super Wal-Mart, and I'm pretty sure they are owned by the same people, because in a lot of places nearby, they are Home Depots next to all the Wal-Warts. I cant stand the workers...you cant ask them anything because they dont know where anything is at and they will leave and never come back.
We do also have a mall about 20 miles away where there is Target, Old Navy and stores like that. They want to build one in my town, but I hope it'll never happen - our small, quiet town is growing so big, and now they want to make it a wet county! But dont even get me started on that...

Exactly. It's a near comedy.

I hate both stores.

Well, department-store wise, the only rivals to Wal-Mart are Fred Meyer and Safeway. I think they're mostly in the Northwest, 'cause I've only seem them in Alaska and Washington, especially Freddie's. Both have food AND other things, just like Wal-Mart. And they're better-priced. And nicer-looking. No annoying dancing blue-vested retarded people (a generalization, I know, but isn't customer service supposed to be a priority at stores like this?) And then there are the regular department stores like Target (which also has food, but not on the scale of Wal-Mart and Fred Meyer), and regular grocery stores. The main grocery store chain in my area is Haggen. You'll only find them in Washington, but they're reasonably-priced as well, compared to Wal-Mart. I thought you guys in Texas had Randalls' and H.E.B.'s up the wazoo. I should know, I lived practically right next to both.

Also, Wal-Mart is trying to put in a Super Wal-Mart in my area. There's already a regular Wal-Mart, but the city is thinking of a bigger one. Bigger store, bigger profits, more money for the city. But the people don't like that. The area where it's probably going to be built has one of the worst intersections in the state. It's murder trying to drive there even without a Wal-Mart in that area. And what's worse, Wal-Mart only lets a select few other companies lease their buildings. So we'll have a huge empty hulk of a building sitting on Safeway land, no less. It's a big mess. Luckily, it's not in my town. It's across the river in the next town. We're just happy with a Best Buy and Old Navy. Oh and Home Depot, but don't get me started on how I hate Home Depot. The Wal-Mart of home improvement, if you ask me, only with orange vests instead. I swear, the same people who work the morning shift at Wal-Mart work the evening shift at Home Depot. They're all stupid. "Where's the hammers?" "By the nails." "And where are the nails?" "I dunno. Let me check." And then they promptly disappear, never to be seen again at that store.

Capitalism has it's bad spots.

maybe in ten years we will, but currently we are.

clpo: what other stores besides Wal-Mart do y'all have? Because all we have around here is Wal-Mart so were pretty limited to where we can shop.

To ilove bush.... The U.S. is compared to a Third World coutnry because we owe so much money to China now, that if China demanded all the money now, we would not be able to pay it. We have a lot of things, yes, but we make less money exporting goods like cotton and buy more from the items produced. That is what I mean.

I've seen less cars at theme parks than I see at Wal-Mart every day. I don't understand. Wal-Mart isn't even that good compared to some other places I can list off the top of my head. Everyday low prices my foot...

I hate Wal Mart. Wal Mart is stinky, dirty, and too many people always inside.
