I have a philosophy exam coming up and one of the questions is going to be "what's the relation between globalization and secularization", I sort of have an idea of what to write but am not that sure...I've looked it up on the internet(I'm not that lazy...) but I'd also like to hear what you guys think about it, any ideas or opinions you'd like to share?

the 2 can never go together for as long as religion is rules ppls life....cause in most thrid world countries the literacy rate is very dismal and ppl lead thier entire lives in ignorance and poverty..they wont really focus their energies on something like this....
plus for htem their defense mechanism is religion..what ppl make beleive is what life is for them..religion is the ground that they stand ona dn the air that they breathe....

I'm not going to provide sources to back this up but I got the idea from listening to NPR the other night. Basically if you take, for instance, the European Union and look at what they've done you'll have a good model. The EU has joined many countries together under one government and one currency and NPR was talking about how many churches in the EU now have low membership. The EU is also known as being extremely liberl, with universal healthcare, same sex marriages, legalized drug use in some countries and legalized sex trade in some countries. Alot of these practices are not acceptable to certain religions, and Some countries have a religious aspect to them. Believe it or not our country has a christian aspect to it based on our laws and beliefs systems, whereas for instance the middle east tends to have a very muslim aspect and india has a hindu/buhdist aspect. If all of these countrys were to agree to a set of laws then they would each have to give up a small to large part of the religious aspect of their country. In some islamic countrys a woman can be put to death for being alone in a room with a man whom isn't family or her husband, if they had to give up this religious based law to join the EU they would become more secular. How do you enforce a law in your country that is considered barbaric by the EU, whom actually is responsible for your country?
