There's one quote in this book about a riot that started out at the black South Central neighborhood of Watts on August 11, 1965 with just 1 police officer and 1 suspected drunk man..

Here's the quote..

quote:
It was an area of poor housing, overcrowding, high unemployment and a high crime rate. When police flagged down 21-year old Marquette Frye, who they suspected to be drunk, a crowd gathered and began to taunt the policeman who called for backup. The 2nd policeman responded for something said by the crowd by striking them with his baton. It was the spark that lead to 5 days of rioting, during which more than 34 people died, almost all of them black. At least 1,000 people were injured and an estimated 200 million in propert was destryoed by looting and burnig, including the whole Watts buisnuiss district...

I really loved this. Is showed that not just todays society fights every now and then..

It also made me laugh, seeing that the name of the book is "HIPPIES" and they are always potrayed as tree-hugging people who smoke weed all day and don't ever fight...
