Has anyone got a quotes book? I have one and I think it's one of the most important things in my life. In it, you write real cool quotes that inspire you, they can be from books, movies and famous people or even your friends! I reckon everyone should start up a quotes book because it could even help you in your time of crisis. Whenever I'm feeling a bit down, I just flip through it and it really makes me feel better, so get out there and start one. Here are a few to start you out: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step"-confucious, "Always be a first rate version of yourself, instead of a second rate version of somebody else" -Judy Garland. "Be like a postage stamp. Stick to one thing till you get there"-Josh Billings Trust me, this is real fun

I'm not one for those "inspiring" quotes, but what the hell. I've got some good funny ones. They are as follows: "The good psychic would pick up the phone before it rang. Of course it is possible there was no one on the other line. Once she said "God Bless you" I said, "I didn't sneeze" She looked deep into my eyes and said, "You will, eventually." And damn it if she wasn't right. Two days later I sneezed. " "We all feel like idiots at one time or another. Even if we feel we're cool 98% of the time, that 2% doofus is poised to take over our bodies without any warning. It just takes a crack in the sidewalk - one little trip. We feel like fools, turning back to look at it. 'There's a pebble, somebody better put up some orange cones to warn others. Everybody's gonna trip like I did.' Then we look back that one more time to show the pebble who's boss, 'Damn pebble, why-I-oughta..." "The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with." "Suburbia is where the developer bulldozes out the trees, then names the streets after them." "Last night I lay in my bed looking up at the stars in the sky and thought to myself, 'Where the hell is the ceiling?" "Marriage is a three ring circus: Engagement ring, wedding ring, and suffering." "Duct tape is like the Force. It has a light side, a dark side, and holds the universe together." "When his life was ruined, his family killed, his farm destroyed, Jon knelt down on the ground and yelled up to the heavens, "Why god? Why me?" and the thundering voice of God answered, "There's just something about you that pisses me off." "When I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a woman in the audience stood up and said, 'Yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?" "If toast always lands butter-side down, and cats always land on their feet, what happens if you strap toast on the back of a cat and drop it?" "Ice-cream is exquisite. What a pity it isn't illegal." "I've been accused of vulgarity. I say that's bull****." "I always start writing with a clean piece of paper and a dirty mind." Wow... you're probably bored to pieces now. I won't give you anymore, but those are some of my favorites. ~Liz

our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. it is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. we ask ourselves, who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? actually, who are you not to be? you are a child of God. your playing small doesn't serve the world. there is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. we are all meant to shine, as children do. we were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. it's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. as we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. ~Marianne Williamson

A hotel by my house has a bunch of awesome quotes hanging on the wall, and I was so intent on finding them I ran a web search for a couple and got a whole list. Apparently they're all by a woman named Jenny Holzer. They're great, as at first they sound like the same boring, not-really-motivating crap people are always throwing at you, but they're all surprisingly insightful. Anyway, these are the best ones:
A lot of professions are crackpots A name means a lot just by itself A relaxed man is not necessarily a better man A sense of timing is the mark of genius A single event can have infinitely many interpretations A strong sense of duty imprisons you Abstraction is a type of decadence Abuse of power comes as no surprise Action causes more trouble than thought Alienation produces eccentrics or revolutionaries All things are delicately interconnected Ambition is just as dangerous as complacency Anger or hate can be a useful motivating force Any surplus is immoral Anything is a legitimate area of investigation At times inactivity is preferable to mindless functioning At times your unconscious is truer than your conscious mind Automation is deadly Bad intentions can yield good results Being alone with yourself is increasingly unpopular Being honest is not always the kindest way Being judgemental is a sign of life Being sure of yourself means you're a fool Believing in rebirth is the same as admitting defeat Boredom makes you do crazy things Categorizing fear is calming Change is valuable when the opressed become the tyrants Children are the cruelest of all Class action is a nice idea with no substance Class structure is as artificial as plastic Confusing yourself is a way to stay honest Crime against property is relatively unimportant Decency is a relative thing Deviants are sacrificed to increase group solidarity Disgust is the appropriate response to most situations Drama often obscures the real issues Dreaming while awake is a frightening contradiction Dying and coming back gives you considerable perspective Eating too much is criminal Elaboration is a form of pollution Enjoy yourself, because you can't change anything anyway Even your family can betray you Every achievement requires a sacrifice Everyone's work is equally important Exceptional people deserve special consessions Expiring for love is beautiful but stupid Expressing anger is necessary Extreme self-consciousness leads to perversion Faithfulness is a social, not biological, law Fake or real indifference is a powerful personal weapon Fathers often use too much force Fear is the greatest incapacitator Freedom is a luxury, not a necessity Go all out in romance and let the chips fall where they may Going with the flow is soothing but risky Government is a burden on the people Guilt and self-laceration are indulgences Habitual contempt doesn't reflect a finer sensibility Humanism is obsolete Ideals are replaced by conventional goals at a certain age If you aren't political, your personal life should be exemplary If you can't leave your mark, give up If you have many desires your life will be interesting If you live simply there is nothing to worry about Illness is a state of mind In some instances it is better to die than continue Inheritance must be abolished It is man's fate to outsmart himself It's a gift to the world not to have babies It's better to be lonely than to be with inferior people It's better to be naive than jaded It's crucial to have an active fantasy life It's just an accident that your parents are your parents It's not good to hold too many absolutes Just believing something can make it happen Killing is unavoidable but is nothing to be proud of Knowledge should be advanced at all costs Labor is a life destroying activity Lack of charisma can be fatal Learn to trust your own eyes Leisure time is a gigantic smokescreen Letting go is the hardest thing to do Listen when your body talks Looking back is the first sign of aging and decay Loving animals is a substitute activity Low expectations are good protection Men are not monogamous by nature Moderation kills the spirit Money creates taste Morals are for little people Most people are not fit to rule themselves Mostly you should mind your own business Mothers shouldn't make too many sacrifices Much was decided before you were born Murder has its sexual side Noise can be hostile Nothing upsets the balance of good and evil Occasionally principles are more valuable than people Offer very little information about yourself Often you should act like you are sexless Old friends are better left in the past Pain can be a very positive thing People are boring unless they are extremists People are nuts if they think they are important People are responsible for what they do unless they're insane People who go crazy are too sensitive People won't behave if they have nothing to lose Planning for the future is escapism Playing it safe can cause a lot of damage in the long run Potential counts for nothing until it's realized Presentation is as important as content Pursuing pleasures for the sake of pleasures will ruin you Raise boys and girls the same way Random mating is good for debunking sex myths Rechanneling destructive impulses is a sign of maturity Recluses always get weak Redistributing wealth is imperative Religion causes as many problems as it solves Remember you always have freedom of choice Repitition is the best way to learn Resolutions serve to ease your conscience Romantic love was invented to manipulate women Routine is a link with the past Routine small excesses are worse than the occasional debauch Sacrificing yourself for a bad cause is not a moral act Self-awareness can be crippling Seperatism is the way to a new beginning Sex differences are here to stay Sin is a means of social control Slipping into madness is good for the sake of comparison Solitude is enriching Spending too much time on self-improvement is anti-social Starvation is nature's way Statis is a dream state Strong emotional attachment stems from basic insecurity Stupid people shouldn't breed Symbols are more meaningful than things themselves Taking a strong stand publicizes the opposite position Talking is used to hide one's inability to act The desire to reproduce is a death wish The family is living on borrowed time The idea of revolution is an adolescent fantasy The idea of transcendence is used to obscure oppression The land belongs to no one The more you know, the better you are The most profound things are inexpressible The mundane is to be cherished The new is nothing but a restatement of the old The unattainable is invariably attractive The world operates according to discoverable laws There's a fine line between information and propoganda There's nothing except what you sense Thinking too much can only cause problems Timidity is laughable To disagree presupposes moral integrity True freedom is frightful Unquestioning love demonstrates a largesse of spirit Using force to stop force is absurd Violence is permissible, even desierable, occasionally We must make sacrifices to maintain our quality of life When something terrible happens people wake up With perseverance you can discover any truth Women love power Worrying can help you prepare You are a victim of the rules you live by You are responsible for constituing the meaning of things You can live on through your descendants You can never outrun yourself You can pull yourself out of any hole You can't expect people to be something they're not You dig your own grave You don't know what's what until you support yourself You get the face you deserve You have to hurt others to be extraordinary You must be intimate with a token few You must disagree with authority figures You must have one grand passion You must know where you stop and the world begins You never know what people really think about you You can only understand someone of your own sex You should study as much as possible Your actions are pointless if no one notices Your oldest fears are the worst ones

YES!! oh yes... i got about 3 quotes book. In fact, before i got those 3 books, i have collected hundreds of quotes when i was in 1st year highschool and its really inspiring too. Its like, everyday, before i go to sleep or something or when i have spare time i would read one quote or read 10 quotes a day to help clear my head and just to relax me. I have one i recently got: "Love is a condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own." - Robert Heinlein

I have a quotes book. They are mostly things that I find funny to help me get out of a bad mood. Like when my mom tries to tell me to do things that I don't see her do. "Parents can tell but they can't teach unless they practice what they preach." Just things like that.
Tell me you don't drag that blade across your skin and pray for the courage to press down.

"I have come to the conclusion that politics are too serious a matter to be left to the politicians." -Charles De Gaulle (1890 - 1970) "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors." -Plato “I love America more than any other country in this world; and, exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually. ~James Baldwin “I just don't know why they're shooting at us. All we want to do is bring them democracy and white bread. Transplant the American dream. Freedom. Achievement. Hyperacidity. Affluence. Flatulence. Technology. Tension. The inalienable right to an early coronary sitting at your desk while plotting to stab your boss in the back.” ~Hawkeye, M*A*S*H, "O.R." And of course the one I use currently as my signature.
