That brings us back round to the matrix of course. A world in which torment has drivin us individually insane? A world in which mind control is common? Difficult to say, I am being distracted by this new site layout, in which it took me fifteen minutes to find this board.

also just to expand (sorry brehon stealing your thunder here) if we go on the assumption that the world we currently inhabit is an illusion, possibly the product of our own minds, what are we hiding? The whole point of an illusion in magic is to make something seem like it's happening when in reality something else is happening the old "man behind the curtain" routine if you will. So if the world is an illusion what's behind our curtain?

Yes it does now that I think about it. Which leads to a question. What the hell is Fairy Cake? Is it like angel foodcake maybe?

That's quite alright Kate. And welcome to YN. quote: extrapolate the universe using quantum physics from a simple banana

I'm afaraid I will never understand quantum physics. All the neurons and electrons, even now I have no clue what I just said. And Brehon, thanks for the apology
It must be lovely to wake up in the morning and understand everything.

I can deal with most science but when people get in to quantum physics I just shut down, so that's one of my summer projects, to figure all this out

Crazy? There are mad scientists for all categories. True, quantum physics is bizarre and unlike traditional teachings of our universe, but to label its physicists as "crazy" for pursuing understanding of something as fundamental and even philosophical as quantum physics, is totally apathetic to what quantum physics is. (This isn't aimed at you personally, ampie, there are so many people who associate only weirdness with this science.) I was actually surprised a couple teens on YN were familiar with the term, though I believe most (if not all) have heard it only reffered to as that "wacky science" or something of the sort, because it deals with old topics in a new way. To this, I say "Bah!" and encourage people to investigate quantum physics, not only because it is likely the most interesting information I've received in my life, but to know more about how the world around them works.

I think what that qoute means is that you can extrapolate the universe using quantum physics from a simple banana. I thinks the word nuts should be put in the place of "banana" for that qoute because your likely a little crazy if you understand any quantum physics

I suppose quantum physics is bananas in many ways as the laws of science (time, gravity, progression, etc.) do not apply. This is part of its appeal!

I dunno, it's just a qoute I heard some where it doesn't need to mean something

What does that make quantum physicists? Bananians? Bananists?

pardon my spelling to doesn't it just makes no sense to all normal people so you may as well sum it up in something we can understand

Oh, "banana". And...how do you believe quantum physics resemble a fruit? >.<

...Bannana? Is that supposed to be an acrynomym of some sort?

Quantum Phsyics can be summed up in one word: Bannana -PCHS Senior Qoute

quote: Where do our rules of science no longer apply Quantum physics! It's incredibly fun, I swear! quote: When we swap brains, both of us are disconserted because you see a lot of yellow grass and call it yellow, and I see a lot of green grass and call it green, but we both see the same grass and the grass itself has not changened, only our perception of it. I think I completely understand your confusion, Brehon. But does it really matter what colors others see? When it really comes down to it, who's judgement of life is more important, someone else's or your own?

dang brehon, I wish we all had such good manners and yes quite complicated thank you On the question, I really have no awnser for that except my old standby. From a certain point of view everything can stretch to infinity. So from our point of view our universe goes on forever simply because we cannot cope with it's massiveness any other way. From another point of view our universe may only be the size of one of my kitchen cabinets. The bounds then to our universe are at such a level and at such a scale that if they do exist, they are incohmprehensible to us. So then to us our universe goes on forever even if it's just a short walk down a hallway for a being that can comprehend the bounds of our universe.

How about a further expansion amp? What are the bounds to the universe? I read a short story by a bloke called Simak, and he wrote that we were merely a tiny blob of matter in a petri dish. Our entire universe was in a pertri dish, thats the scale. If the world does exist, what are its bounds? Where do our rules of science no longer apply, and where does infinity end? Complicated enough for you amp? And Kate127, a little more on topic to help you cope with the possibility that we might discuss something else.
