quote: The Old Man and the Sea-Hemmingway
Good lord! How is it that The Old Man and the Sea has ended up on a list of good books. *SPOILER WARNING* A man sets out to sea and sails for three days. He catches the biggest fish he has ever seen. Then it is eaten by sharks. He returns home no better off for having gone in the first place. I detest that book. I'd like to add: The Woodlanders- Thomas Hardy Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte Collected Poems - W.H.Auden On Love and Barley- Basho Frankenstein - Mary Shelley Of Suicide - David Hume The Remains of the Day - Kazuo Ishiguro (anything else by him will be good)

I've read everything I can get my hands on by Chuck Palahnuik and John Irving, which sadly wasn't that much. So far, I'd recommend anything by either of them. Another tragically good book: Tess of the d'Ubervilles - Thomas Hardy

Nothing wrong with sticking to an author. I stick with an author until I have read all their books or some other book I have been waiting for has been released. *cough*HarryPotter*cough* I read Chuck Palahnuik, then moved on to JD Salinger, and now I am reading Kurt Vonnegut. All are amazing.

Hmm...good books... Vanishing Acts, by Jodi Picoult. My Sister's Keeper, by Jodi Picoult. The Pact, but Jodi Picoult. ...And pretty much anything else by Jodi Picoult.

you really liked that? I know it's a classic and all but I really did not like that book. Maybe it's because I had to over analyze it for school or something but...I don't know. I think it's over rated. Then again, what the hell do I know. Interesting books I just read: "When things fall apart"- Pema Chodron "Going to pieces without falling apart"- Marc Epstein

It is indeed. And you called me Voice, no one calls me Voice. Ohh it sounds cool. Like I'm a voice coming from an unknown and mysterious place...okay not really, but it would be nice now wouldn't it.

Voice, The Giver is an AMAZING book! Haha. I just finished The Pawnbroker with my class- it's a slow moving book but it's touching and very sad. It's about a holocaust survivor and his life after.

A good book that I've read (but I think no teen would read, even though I read it when I was 13) is called "The Soul of A Butterfly" by Muhammad Ali. I read it twice. It was about Muhammad Ali's philosophy of life, which is really special to read.
"I believe there's a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams."
