I didnt want to see the movie but my friend was dying to see it. I thought it was going to be stupid, but I loved it! Maybe cuz it was in the theatre, but i wanted to see it again. Now my friends and I have the soundtrack and movie (although we made fun of it and said that Raoul looked like a friend of ours.) I mean, why would you follow some dude with a cape and mask that comes out of your mirror? Still, it was good, and Emmy Rossem from Day After Tomorrow was Christine. Now i have to see the play.

i like the music. some of it. but, for the most part, i think that it's overrated.

or maybe i'm just sick of it cuz of alll the hype my drama club made over the movie version.

either way, i'd give it a chance onstage but i will never watch the movie. the actress who played christine (i don't even know her name) is a horrible actress.

First of all I ABSOLUTELY loved Phantom of the Opera! I loved everything about it and even Emmy Rossum was pretty good! I loved the Phantom and how he had a mysterious look to him in the end i think Raoul should have been someone a bit more manly than him. However i love the play, movie, soundtrack, and i am going to the theater to watch the play again! I loved IT!

Madame Giry or whoever told Roaul that the Phantom was a talented magician. He probably used that cuz it you look closely on how it happened when Christine tore it off, it had a weird flash or something. That was when his hair went blonde and he was all deformed. He looked like he was burned. If I were him, I would say I saved a child in a fire and suffered this. heheh

I finally (after soo many months) was able to watch Phantom of the Opera, and I love it! the producers did a pretty good job in adapting from the theatre onto the screen...Bravo!

Only things that I was disappointed in the film were:

- Christine had a small voice, it wasn't a really grande voice...meaning she could have had a richer voice and tone (without so many breaks....carry her voice out). Her voice wasn't suited for opera (i mean opera within the show) and her part.

- What was the deal with the Phantom's mask? His mask covered much less than 1/2 of his face, giving me the notion that his face couldnt be THAT bad. when in the end, his mask was removed, it seems that his birth marks were covering over 1/2 of his face....

- They made Raoul look like a wimpy suitor, and also his voice was a dissappointment....made me more inclined to support Phantom, when in fact Phantom was a cold murderer.

I had listened to the sound track ( the old one) in my music class and was compleatly enchanted by it. when i heard a movie was gonna be made i was like nooo! they're going to ruin it ack! but my friends dragged me to see it and I absolutly loved it!! And whats wrong with following around the sexy phantom its better than following Raul he was more of a girl than christine was , but then again the phantom was a psycho killer but maybe thats just me ?

That might not make any sense but right now I'm too tired to explain it to you or to care .......

Loved the soundtrack, but didn't like the Phantom in the movie, he didn't sound as well as he probably should have.

The soundtrack really got to me. It's just so powerful; I couldn't help but get into it. The first time I saw the movie was in Band class after we had finished playing Phantom, and of course the soundtrack was a gajillion times better than us, but that was half the fun of listening to it. Knowing that they were so many times better. But that we could still somewhat play it.

Oh man, I saw the play in San Fransico last year and MAN that play is wicked awesome (yes, that's right, wicked awesome). The singing is beautiful as are the songs. I love the fact that they continually use the same melodies but change the words and feeling. The climax is in my opinion one of the most emotionally charged in a musical. The scene with the chandelier (I dont know how to spell that) is incredible on stage, cause it's huge and swings full speed right over the audience's heads. I was a little afraid to see the movie cause I thought I'd be too critical. But I really enjoyed it. They did a good job staying true to the play and that Christine can sing boy! However, I was a little upset to hear the phantom sing as he did. He's horrible. Yes he can sing better than the average person, and certainly better than me. But he should've had an awesome voice. On the caliber of Christine. But they totally missed the mark on that one. Oh well, I still liked it over all. The masquerade scene was beautiful. Ok, I'm done.

I liked Christine's singing in the new one.

But I didn't really like everyone elses'. There's few boys I like to hear sing.

I disliked it at first, then changed my mind half way through the movie. You kind of have to let go of the concept that it is a film, and accept it as a bizzare and grand show. Otherwise, it seems cheesey.

I think that the story line to begin with is fairly simple, but most of the actors in the film did a good job at showing depth and emotion, particuraly the Phantom- and he had half his face covered.

However, Christine had like four facial expressions which annoyed me. And I had to endure my grandmother next to me whispering multiple times that she just couldn't belive how much I resembled Christine except I apparently have more almond shaped eyes. It's a wonder I still speak to her.

The singing was great but way too drawn out and repetitive. The music was awesome.

A bit of advice in reflection:

Girls- Don't follow masked men into scary lairs.

Guys- Don't make the girl of your fancy believe you are an angel in her mind. Or try to kill her friends. It just never works out.

Absolutely. But, music is a huge part of my life, especially singing, so I enjoyed it a ton!

Yeah, I couldn't really get into The Phantom of the Opera because it was too much singing, so I just stopped the movie and returned it.

Too much singing. I could have done with less singing. But then it was a musical...which is why I rented the really, really old silent version and watched it.
