I'm noticing a consistency on this topic. A lot of people write and post poetry. Does anyone write something other than poetry? I know that I suck at writing poetry but I'm fairly decent with stories and prose (most definitely the latter). I'm just kinda bad at finishing the stories...

It's the same in my brand spanking new Creative Writing class at school. Everyone writes poetry and keeps a poetry notebook or they made a book of poems somewhere else. And on deviantART or on fictionpress.com the poetry sections are updated more frequently than the other sections. So here's my main questions:

1. What is it about poetry? Why does the majority of the teenage population (from my viewpoint, anyways) write poetry as opposed to other types of written word? Why do you particularly prefer poetry (if you do, that is)?

2. Do you write in any other form? If so, what kinds?

1. I think more people write poetry because it helps them vent and doesn't take so long to write as other written works. Also, it can be more truthful then other types of writing. I write poetry when I feel like it, and it helps me at times.

2. I write everything.
