Given the fact that I find myself being awake even more hours nowadays, causing much mre boredom, I have taken an interest in art. With that said, what is your favorite painter? Mine is Salvador Dali... So... when you see a painting by your favorite artist, what exactly do you enjoy about the art? What do you feel? Do you look for the technical quality of the painting, or more for the emotion? When I see Dali's works, I like noticing his bright use of colors, shapes, and the way he changes the natural "function" of something to make it new. But what I love doing is looking at his art very closely, and noticing every single thing he painted, because when I do, I realize that even if his works seem all about fantasy and his own imagination, you notice that his "fantasy" is actually rooted on reality, and that he silently gives messages with each of his paintings to his audience.

mine is too. He paints the way I dream. I once got to see his original watercolors of Alice in Wonderland and I stood in front of one of the pictures -the one when alice's arm is coming out of the house- for nearly an hour. I even cried a little, it was so beautiful. my goal now is to save up so that one day i can buy it. So what if he was a womenizing facist? Dali was a dreamer.

Diego Rivera got art right, if art is a person then he was well acquainted with her. Frida Kahlo was the ripples of his wake. I think Substance could be more important than the image.
I also like, Vermeer, Da Vinci, and Picasso, of coure because they expanded the defeniton of art through technique and subject. Their art is very wonderful, original.

I adore artists like da Vinci for his Madonna of the Rocks and Raphael's School of Athens. I also like Botticeli's Birth of Venus. I admire people like Adolf Wolfli (outsider artist) and Picasso (though I dislike most modern paintings)... My all time favorite painting happens to be Leda and the Swan by Michelangelo.
Existence is an art.

Jam, it's very obvious that you poke fun at Celtic because a. you want to be her, or b. you want her. Either way, get a life.

I wonder if there's a curse if we all get close to her.
My favorite artist is Vincent Van Gogh.

OMG. I know. "The Last Judgment" is by far one of the best paintings of all time. I like El Greco, and Frans Has are my favorites. Frans, man, NOBODY does a portrait like him. The accuracy rivals that of a real photograph.

Hieronymus Bosch! Goddd that guy rocks, he was so out of place for his time it's ridiculous. Monet is also awesome...he could paint something and strike a perfect middleground between realism/accuracy and vivid beauty.
