somebody i used to know named ian wrote this poem awhile back. it was on somebody's livejournal so i saved it in to my computer. keep in mind that he was 12 or 13 when he wrote this so it's not perfect, and enjoy!

I wonder what it was like
way back when
in a time when
words now common
were then revelation,
When Adam first said to eve
"I love you, more than anything"
what could that have meant?
it must have been so amazing
to hear such divine words
come from an ordinary man
Go back to when
the first words of love
were ever spoken
when "you are the world to me,"
was charged with so much energy
it caused hearts to explode with love
the first time a young lover
ever said to her love
"i would be lost without you"
the joy
that was flowing through those words
the electricity that came from them,
must have been ecstatic
For a minute, love
pretend...
pretend that the world
hasn't heard the words
"you're beautiful"
pretend that no one
has ever said the words
"i love you"
and as you do,
imagine that i have taken
all the passion,
fuel,
ecstasy,
from all the words of love
ever spoken
and channel them through
my mouth as i say to you
"i love you"
and as the words leave my mouth,
we sit together
and watch the energy
burst out into the open
and heal the world
it becomes a shout,
echoing
I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!
and you know
that’s the love i have
for you
add up all the passion
of all the lover's kisses in the world,
and that is the passion
with which i kiss you
add up all the electric current
that flows
through all lover's hands
as they hold each other
that is the electricity
that flows through me
to you
and when i say to you
"honey, it's you i love"
hear the echoes of every
dumbstruck lover
revealing my longing for you
"isn't it cool that the universe is
limitless?"
Oh yeah honey,
but so is my love for you
"Every sweet little lie ever whispered to you now rings true, no need to wake the sleeping dogs when they'll just turn on you. I'll make my way instead to the foots of your ivory tower, but no love do I find there amongst the leaves and dying flowers."
