I just don't know

I don't know why the caged bird sings
I don't know why the stars shine at night
I don't know these things and I never will
just like I don't know why I love you

I don't know why the sky is blue
I don't know why the grass is green
I don't know these thing and so much more
all I know is that I love you

I just don't know is the honest truth
why do you enthral me so
every word, every glance, every touch, every kiss
throws me around the world

I don't know why the caged bird sings
I don't know why the stars shine at night
all I know, my only truth is that with all my heart...
I love you

(written for that special someone...as soon as I find her any way Wink)

The Silenced Child of Revelation
Who doth I address this to?
For mine whose pagns unknown to you
I hath no key to open the gate
The entry way to my own disgrace
My mind forsaken by an adulterous maw
Inept to communicate my own thought
Lest I be punished, lest I be chided
A secret, solitary to merely Gods finding
For never could such estranged words breech these lips!

Future

in my future
when I look into the crowd
I want to see

when you see me
I'll look out
touch your hand

I'll smile
you'll appreciate my worth
why don't you now?

Three Rings for the Elven-Kings under the sky,
Seven Rings for the Dwarf-Lords in their halls of stone,
Nine Rings for mortal men doomed to die,
One Ring for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadow lies.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadow lies.

The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

I wrote this one in NY over my fall break this year:

Chasing daylight

Night approaches upon me

I despise its coming

So I will attempt the impossible

I run with all my strength to the west

In the direction of the falling sun

which greets me like an old friend

I wish I could take hold of it

the beauty is unberable

but things like these mortal men cannot do

It has three layers

The top is blackness, the night which will envelope the earth

the middle is a fading blue, it knows its fate

it accepts its defeat, and welcomes the night

But the last has hope, and will make a last stand against the night

colored red, not for beauty, but for its will to survive

courage in the face of doom

I admire its courage, and that is why I run to meet it

I know I will lose, but it is the effort that counts

For I choose light

Ok here is one of my poems, hope you like it:

Baktun- The end has yet to come

Advocates of ashen attrition
March despoiled
Unaware of the glazed stares
That drowned in sorrow,
With heavens wrath
Setting a path
For a better tomorrow.

A pain we cannot sustain
Lives within a house of porcelain.
His actions are mere foreplay to war
Dancing among the eastern ruins
Where the lead is sure to fly
Through dirt dust and the battered sky.

Three parties hoping to win
The black gold we all behold
Enthralled to the point of sin.

Her scars will last until the stars
Come sky clad into her wretched arms,
We drink her bone dry
Committing a global suicide
The quiet killing,
Just a makeshift matricide.

A dying planet whose desperation is apparent
Is diseased and infected like no other
Evincing that soon
She shall no longer be our mother.

That's it. I'm posting one of my longest poems from back in high school. But don't worry, you wont have to endure a long page full of corny thoughts, it's actually about war. Wink

ONE FINE DAY

One fine day in the middle of the night,

Two dead boys got up to fight,

Back to back they faced each other,

Drew their swords and shot each other,

One was blind and the other couldn't, see

So they chose a dummy for a referee.

A blind man went to see fair play,

A dumb man went to shout "hooray!"

A paralysed donkey passing by,

Kicked the blind man in the eye,

Knocked him through a nine inch wall,

Into a dry ditch and drowned them all,

A deaf policeman heard the noise,

And came to arrest the two dead boys,

If you don't believe this story’s true,

Ask the blind man he saw it too!

The Walrus and The Carpenter
Lewis Carroll
(from Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There, 1872)
The sun was shining on the sea,
Shining with all his might:
He did his very best to make
The billows smooth and bright--
And this was odd, because it was
The middle of the night.

The moon was shining sulkily,
Because she thought the sun
Had got no business to be there
After the day was done--
"It's very rude of him," she said,
"To come and spoil the fun!"

The sea was wet as wet could be,
The sands were dry as dry.
You could not see a cloud, because
No cloud was in the sky:
No birds were flying overhead--
There were no birds to fly.

The Walrus and the Carpenter
Were walking close at hand;
They wept like anything to see
Such quantities of sand:
"If this were only cleared away,"
They said, "it would be grand!"

"If seven maids with seven mops
Swept it for half a year.
Do you suppose," the Walrus said,
"That they could get it clear?"
"I doubt it," said the Carpenter,
And shed a bitter tear.

"O Oysters, come and walk with us!"
The Walrus did beseech.
"A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,
Along the briny beach:
We cannot do with more than four,
To give a hand to each."

The eldest Oyster looked at him,
But never a word he said:
The eldest Oyster winked his eye,
And shook his heavy head--
Meaning to say he did not choose
To leave the oyster-bed.

But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat--
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn't any feet.

Four other Oysters followed them,
And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more, and more, and more--
All hopping through the frothy waves,
And scrambling to the shore.

The Walrus and the Carpenter
Walked on a mile or so,
And then they rested on a rock
Conveniently low:
And all the little Oysters stood
And waited in a row.

"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."
"But wait a bit," the Oysters cried,
"Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!"
"No hurry!" said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.
"A loaf of bread," the Walrus said,
"Is what we chiefly need:
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed--
Now if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed."
"But not on us!" the Oysters cried,
Turning a little blue.
"After such kindness, that would be
A dismal thing to do!"
"The night is fine," the Walrus said.
"Do you admire the view?
"It was so kind of you to come!
And you are very nice!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"Cut us another slice:
I wish you were not quite so deaf--
I've had to ask you twice!"
"It seems a shame," the Walrus said,
"To play them such a trick,
After we've brought them out so far,
And made them trot so quick!"
The Carpenter said nothing but
"The butter's spread too thick!"
"I weep for you," the Walrus said:
"I deeply sympathize."
With sobs and tears he sorted out
Those of the largest size,
Holding his pocket-handkerchief
Before his streaming eyes.
"O Oysters," said the Carpenter,
"You've had a pleasant run!
Shall we be trotting home again?'
But answer came there none--
And this was scarcely odd, because
They'd eaten every one
