What do you understand as truth? Is it what you can prove with eyesight and personal experiance, or is something that you have reason to believe is true more true?

This is quite a heavy topic for YouthNoise, but I am sure you can come up with something.

Only simple and quiet words will ripen of themselves. For a whirlwind does not last a whole morning, nor does a sudden shower last the entire day.

Truth to me is what I have experienced, or what I have seen to be true.

But I'm not close-minded. If someone believes something to be true, and they can back it up with real facts, I'll be inclined to believe them.

Some people believe in ghosts, that's their truth. I don't. But if I see one and I can make sure it's a ghost and not some trick of my eye, then I'll believe in ghosts as well.

I'm just WAITING for this to become a religion thread. It's got all the makings.

Objective truth is something that is backed up by obvious facts. I can say in my opinion that the tree outside my house isnt going to run away when I turn around. Truthfully, it is rooted and has no logical life inside of it. It cant tell me that it wants to move. I know its always going to be there.

"My opinion is just as good as anybody else's" this is VERY false. You have the right to have your opinion heard, but to have it respected, you need to have objective TRUTHS. Some people know more about one topic than another. Some may understand things differently, or actually study something in order to talk about it. People also refuse to admit the truth if it conflicts with their pride or own beliefs. It is difficult to understand how to accept it when you have to admit, "yes, I was wrong, I need to read more about it." Morally you can make good decisions based on the common good, which benefits from objective truths that helps everybody. And I'm going to stop now because I sound like I'm lecturing. We dont want that.... Roll Eyes
