Ok I have a project for school called The American Dream and I was wondering if you guys wanted to help me out by voicing your own opinions on the matter. Just try to write your philosophy on what it actually is and try to answer the questions below in doing so possibly....

1)What do you think the actual american dream is? What is the one similar goal for every american?

2)What are your own personal dreams for the future?

3)Do you think the 2 are connected?

Thanks you guys, if you do this and if you have questions or it's kind of personal, feel free just to NM it to me. Smile Thanks y'all.

1. I believe the ultimate goal for all Americans is materialistic, since we are a society basing our values on material goods. So the ultimate goal is to own a lot of things (ie, money, cars, etc.) and have great worth. A similar goal for all Americans is to be healthy and happy I think. Unfortunately it's quite likely that these goals (yes, all three) are not possible for every American.

2. My personal dreams lie in what I've already stated - I want a life partner, living out a happy life together with luxuries like expensive cars, a nice home and still being able to spend free time at will.

3. I believe I answered this question in the above - my own goals are based on society's values. So I would like material goods, to be wealthy, but I also want happiness, health and a loving family.

for me the American dream is having the ability to pursue your dreams and not let anything but yourself hold you back

so for me my dream is to win the iditarod one day but Brehon's dream is I think I can safely say is completely diffrent than mine but in America we are both free to pursue them to the extent of our abilities.

Thanks Brehon....

yeah I already know about Gatsby, we're trying to tie 12 american novels together and get the American Dream over all out of them. Should be interesting.

Thanks to GCSE, every time I hear American Dream, I think Death of a Salesman. So I'd advise you to look there at the contrasting dreams of the rural, country, pioneer American Dream and the Urbanised Capatilist one. Might get you a few marks.

And I don't think the two are connected, since the American Dream is something embedded in American Law, Literature and Society.
