I recently finished Sputnik Sweetheart by Haruki Murakami and enjoyed quite well. If anyone else has read it and have recommendations for similar books, please tell me.

The style of writing? I don't know how to describe it but Japanese humor is different and I like it better than American or British humor. And usually, the translations aren't accurate because there are words or grammatical structures in Japanese that couldn't be done in English. But that doesn't have anything to do with what you asked...ha, that's me rambling again. Sorry.

i've never read Japanese books personally, but I think you'd like Rumer Godden's You Need To Go Upstairs. It's just a really peaceful story. Very nice to read in a rainy day. Also, Guy de Maupasant writes nice short stories. I love Anton Tchekov's Uncle Vanya. And Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson.
