Now I really love Shakespearean plays... I read Romeo and Juliet last year and thoroughly loved it. Now I'm reading Twelfth Night which I think is so genious; I suggest that everyone go read it sometime! But then I was thinking... when people talk about playwrights, it's usually Shakespeare...

I was just wondering if anyone knew about any other good playwrights and could suggest some of their works to me. I'm really getting into this type of literature and wonder where to turn when I eventually finish w/ Shakespeare's works.

Thanks Razz

Been reading Webster: 'The Duchess of Malfi'. A little later than Shakespeare, very dark, very poetic, incredibly gory. Great imagery in it, even some macabre comedy. Similar language to Shakespeare, but a very different feel to the whole thing… Less romantic, I suppose.

My advice, just go to the drama selection and pick up a play or two, if you hate it, stop reading it. I've discovered some great thigns that way, though at the moment playwright names are not coming to me.

Quite true. When I was a camp counselor at a Norwegian camp, we did the original ending, and that was for small children.

Not to be a nerd, but have any of you ever seen a rendition of a greek drama? They're very different than other plays, and very beautiful.

I love almost anything by Ibsen, especially A Doll's House.

When the president talks to god are the conversations brief or long? Does he ask to rape our women's rights and send more farm kids off to die? Does God suggest an oil hike when the president talks to god?

Arthur Miller is well worth checking out.

Anton Chekov's Uncle Vanya and Dominic Champagne's Playing Bare are my favorites.
