Hello, I planned on making this thread at midnight, but as you can see, I've been reading. So all you other HP geeks out there can surely excuse my lateness.

Anyway, this is the place for true HBP discussion, not just "Oh, I loved it!" or "It sucked!" A discussion encompasses more than that. So, good luck with the reading everyone, and as soon as I finish, I will post on here. All I can say now is: Ron and Hermione better shape up. Yes, I'm a Ron/Hermione shipper.

REVIVIED. JK Rowlings has announced that she is going to start writing Book 7 in 2006. Yay!! Despite speculation she has revealed that the Sorting Hat is not a horocrux (It's a Gryfindoor artifact). People can check out my HP blog on myspace if they want.

I don't think so. I vaguely remember Figg saying she was the only squibb in her family. I'm not sure though.

Hm. I guess I could look it up. Yeah, I'll go to mugglenet.

I never thought the Mark Evans thing was anything. It would have been interesting, though.

I did. ANd then I decided I was over-anylyzing again.

Maybe Figg and Filch are siblings? I dunno. *beeeeeeep! schreeeeeeech!* OH NO! The over-anylyzing alarm! Dundundun. . .

And of course I said "We." We wouldn't want ol' Voldemort to win now would we?

That could be it, too.

And the Figg/Filch thing...I still think there's some connection, even though they aren't the same person.

Or Rowling just did it to torment us and make us overananalyze...In Book 5 Rowlings mentioned a ten year old, Mark Evans, whom Dudley liked to beat-up. For days I was convinced that he was related to Harry's mother (originally Lily Evans).

I love that you said 'we'. It shows you how much you can get pulled into this story.

And the Figg/Filch thing...I still think there's some connection, even though they aren't the same person. Maybe their similarities were just foreshadowing for Figgy being a Squib, revealed in book five. But then, we didn't know her first name before the end of GoF, did we? Agh, so confusing...

What about Quirrell? In Book 1 it is made clear that he has worked for multiple years. He did, however, take a year off from teaching. But he did teach for multiple years.

My guess would be that since he was a host body for Voldemort, that the curse was detered. Perhaps after the first year of teaching, Voldemort saw an opportunity to take advantage of a wizard and stopped the curse and perhaps somehow convinced Quirrell to take a year off for experience and then, well you know from there... Or maybe Quirrell was always a servant of Voldemort and the year that he was 'never the same' was the year that he had voldemort share his body and the fear that voldemort would kill him, etc. made him so stutter-y (if that's a word)... I don't know... I think that the quirrell story can fit into the DADA curse thing...

No specifically, but it is implied. Basically, Hagrid said that Quirrell was never the same after he left Hogwarts for a year to acquire firsthand experience.

Also, remember how Dumbledore tells Harry that since Voldemort applied for the Defense against Dark Arts job the job has been jinxed. What about Quirrell? Hm. . . Perhaps Rowling just made a mistake, or there could be something we're missing. I want Remus to get the DADA job after the war is over, providing we win the war, if he survives.

They don't have to be the same person. There could be some connection, but probably we are over-analyzing.

Okay, to more important things, I thought that Harry was a horcrux right away. However, I may change my mind because in Books 4+5 Voldemort clearly tries to kill Harry. In #4 he escapes because of his wand and in #5 Dumbledore comes to his rescue. In both instances, Voldemort points his wand at Harry and says Avada Kedavra. If Harry was a true horocrux, why would Voldemort try to kill part of his soul.

Also, remember how Dumbledore tells Harry that since Voldemort applied for the Defense against Dark Arts job the job has been jinxed. What about Quirrell? In Book 1 it is made clear that he has worked for multiple years. He did, however, take a year off from teaching. But he did teach for multiple years.

Its possible, but I doubt it will reveal itself in the 7th even if it is the truth. I like to think of the as two seperate people because I dislike Filch so much. Oh, and a person who can change their features at will is a metamorphmagus.
