Maybe this is because I had circumstances in my childhood that sort of forced me to grow up quicker, but it suprises me that some kids aren't more mature. Then I realize that I might have too high of standards. I expect ten-year-olds to have some semblance of respect though. What age do you think kids should start to really pay attention to what's going on around them and take responsibility? Or does it depend on the circumstances?

I'd like to point out that there is a great difference between ten year olds having respect and ten year olds having reponsibility. Many children aren't mature, but does it really matter? We should leave them their innocence so they have some fun before they have to go to work until there 70 thanks to low pension funding by the government.
