I dunno how much of a stretch it is to put this question in this category...but I guess it's philosophy.
I recently had a couple discussions with two friends on the subject of depth, and both of these friends had very different ideas.
The first suggested that a person's depth was determined solely on how much this person had suffered in their life. Someone who had experienced some intense trauma would be more deep than someone who had been lucky enough not to.
When I brought this idea up with another friend, we both agreed that the ideas brought up before were a little ridiculous. I believe that a person's personal suffering absolutely determines parts of their personality, and the way they relate to people. However, I would not say that a person's experiences of their past necessarily determine "depth" if that's even a legitimate concept.
So I decided to ask a few questions:
What is depth?
What exactly determines a person's depth?
How does personal trauma effect a person?
