I agree with you in the sense that Poe was an extrodinary author, and was definetely misunderstood. The only thing that bothered me with your post was when you said everybody he ever loved left him, that's not true. His cousin, who he married, never left him. She stayed with him until she died. He had many great moments with her, along with many bad. I think part of what makes Poe a great writer, is the fact that people can't seem to figure out if he was brilliant or just insane. Since you like Poe, you should try reading some of Flanner O'Connor's short stories, they are similar to Poe, or Sylvia Plath's poems.
