Well the number one thing for me is intelligence. I like responding to those that type with clarity and obviously understand the topic they wish to discuss.
Different takes on a subject is always nice. Ex.: Barkid made another thread on homosexuality but it was specifically referring to the Bible and a web-site he had found.
Being open-minded---and expressing this through your post---is always good. It makes people more willing to respond because they don't expect to be put down for their views.
These rules don't always have to be followed. Ex.: pianogirl was extremely close-minded and definitely didn't type with clarity when she made that one faitful post "Same-Sex Marriages = WRONG!" That thread is still up and running to this day and she didn't necessarily start off with a "good thread."
Personally, I've found pretty much all of your threads to be good, Brehon. Here's a good example of one of yours: The "Does Religion Play A part in Your Choices About Sex" thread discusses sex (a widely discussed subject on YN) but in a different light. You specifically asked about religion and it's affect on sex.
