Pain is inevitable. Life is pain. We all feel it, phisical, emotional, mental, or all together.
You can run from it or learn from it. You can hide from direct hurts but indirectly you have hurt yourself.
Armor protects the body from the sword but it makes the man sink in water.
I allow myself to feel pain. I don't hide or run, i just stand there and let it wound me. I feel it, and it keeps me sensitive. I know there's no way around it so I try to turn it to good.
But others do not. They push people away because they "don't want to be hurt again" because they "have been hurt too much"
but really, they are hurting themselves more. Soon they will be lonely, and if anyone is still there for them through it all, they realize they were ture, and would never harm a being needlessly. And if the hider ever sees that they will most likely think they've blown it and never know that the person who took their darts was hurt too, but endured it, remaining for them.
Don't flee from pain, just don't look for it. It comes, I know, but find someone who can help yo through it, don't put a wall between you and them. It only makes it worse
I can help if you need it: iloblegolas2957 or munnonockspirit are my public AIM screen names

Yeah sometimes you don't have a prior memory to avoid stubbing your toe. But that's just a thing to remember to avoid walking headlong into it. Wink

As for emotional "hurts," if you don't think that's possible I don't suppose you ever had your best friend dump you without telling you why (i still don't know. six years and still no clues), had the one you loved most murdered, lost another best friend because she died when she was seven, have seen your grandmother slowly deteriorate after your grandpa died, shall i go on...?

If those kinds of things make no impact on you I'm puzzled. Confused Things like that kill people. I've seen it firsthand

Stumping a toe isn't always avoidable. And people have accidents, it's not always due to a lack of knowledge.

I don't really think a person can be emotionally "hurt".

That's more of a small reason. I mean more along the lines of you get wiser as you discover what people are talking about when they speak their feelings. It helps you relate to them, even if you can't tell them what made you understand them

Does that clear it up a bit?

How are we supposed to learn something from stumping our toe? You and I must disagree what pain is.
