Hi, my name is Brandi, and I would like to hear your thoughts about RACISM IN 2004. I know this seems like a very touchy issue, but I really need the help. We had to read Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin, which is a nonfiction novel about a white man in 1959 who turns himself black to investigate racism. We are writing an essay based on this topic, and I need some insight from all you active YouthNOISE members. Want to make a difference? State your thoughts here!

Racism is everywhere. Many people say they want to one day live in a world where there is no racism, but a lot of people don't do anything about it. I mean, people can say that they are not racist, but then they turn around and make racist comments. In my opinion, people barely do anything about racism, even though they say they want to. I think that if there was knowledge of other cultures and more cultural diversity, then there would be less racism.

there is racisim in Canada but it is more personal type things. We dont hsave anything crazy like the KKK, well not unless it is drug related. i think but yah no i could be wrong. I was really intregued by the concept of "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, i thought it was a rather interesting and magnified example of basic racism. Another racism dramitization i found very interesting was "Ned Kelly" the movie that was based upon real life. Basically what it was was an Austrailian community and espeacially one family is picked on for being irish. And it is the story of one mans rebelion of the british crown and racism. It also was a very interesiting domino effect of lies or untruths.

You're absolutely right. We don't care about the important stuff. that's why we have a whole ****ing board on ending the ISMS (example: racism). Look there.

Half of the kids at my school are either black/hispanic. There are still racist people, but it's a hell of a lot better than it was in 1959.

racism stays strong in the u.s.... i am convinced its part of their culture

I live in montana and I only know one black person. There is deffinitly racism here because there are so few minorities.
