Omg, that movie confused me. I couldn't tell if there was supposed to be a point or not...I know I missed something. What the hell was the point of Brad Pitt's character. Who was the woman with the briefcase...what was the whole deal with the virus...why did animals escape some zoo...what was with the scene on the plane...why did Bruce Willis have to put that spider in his mouth...
Granted, I was about 11 or 12 when I saw the movie...but even now what I remember of it isn't enough for me to piece it together. However I do remember not getting it, and to this day I am frustrated by that. Someone please explain.

"""stupidity to the rescue.""" ___May what you've just said die and burn forever in "painfully ironic catch-phrase Hell".
___On a lighter note, yes I'm pretty sure Madeleine Stowe's character is the one you meant to refer to... so no worries. And even though there was a whole lot more to the story... those basics are enough to make sure you don't get too lost while watching "12 Monkeys". Which I completely recommend to people over eleven and twelve years old... excluding most of the thirteen year olds on this site(if your eyes just widened, then yes I'm talking about you).

Thanks. I guess I basically understood, just wasn't sure.
The "woman with the briefcase"....actually, now that I think about it, I don't know if she had one or not. I just remember seeing a focus on her in some dramatic ending scene, and that she was also present at another point towards the beginning of the movie.

...and it looks like I'm not missing out on much.

___For future reference: If you are an eleven or twelve year old who plans on watching the movie "12 Monkeys"... don't.
"""I couldn't tell if there was supposed to be a point or not...""" ___The movie was about saving the world from progressing into a future where almost everybody would die from the release of a deadly virus, and we'd have to wait countless years until a dirty group of scientists invented a form of time travel to send criminal explorers to investigate different ways of preventing the awful truth of their existence back in the past.
"""What the hell was the point of Brad Pitt's character.""" ___In order to understand him you must first understand Bruce Willis' character(he was the future criminal incident investigator whose plans included finding out what caused the virus's release while in various times of the past). Brad Pitt's character was Bruce Willis' main suspect but ultimately turned out to be merely a red herring and did not in fact have anything to do with the virus except for his connections with his father the scientist who had access to it.
"""Who was the woman with the briefcase...""" ___Hmmm, there was the psychiatrist(Madeleine Stowe) who along with Brad Pitt's character, were the only ones to come in contact with Bruce Willis' character in both time periods he arrived in(the first one was an accident)... and was important because she was the only person who knew the truth about Bruce Willis' character's mission after he went bananas and sliced his teeth out. But as far as "woman with the briefcase goes"... I'm a little fuzzy on who you mean for sure.
"""what was the whole deal with the virus...why did animals escape some zoo...""" ___The virus being released plan was and had always been the idea of the red-headed man who worked in the laboratory, and the rich scientists son(Brad Pitt's character) was the one who rallied up a gang to paint the "12 Monkeys" grafitti, and release the animals from the zoo because he thought society was nothing more than a bunch of mindless animals with no appreciation for his special-ness.
"""what was with the scene on the plane...""" ___The ending scene was where the future scientist lady went back in time herself on the lead of the phone call Bruce Willis' character made to her instructing her once and for all precisely, how and when the virus was released. She called herself, "An insurance" meaning she was there to finish waht Bruce Willis' character could not(i,e, stop the virus before it's too late).
"""why did Bruce Willis have to put that spider in his mouth""" ___Bruce Willis' character was trained to collect specimens during his explorations of uncharted land and times, the only way he could transport anything through time warps(i.e. bring a sample back to the future from the past) was to ingest it and have them futuristically retrieve what was left of it. But, it was not crucial to the advancement of the plot... only the characterization of why the scientists had chosen Bruce Willis' character(because he was resourceful) as the "one" to be trusted with such an important mission.

hahaha. Well, this definitely is random. I've never heard of Twelve Monkeys though. Sorry.
