I am a straight white Christian female. Put that in any order you wish. I am not a racist, sexist, homophobic, or anything like that. I have friends of all colors, shapes, sizes, and sexual orientations. ****If you are easily offended on these subjects, please scroll to the bottom before you send me any hate mail****
Now that I have that out of the way, I have a bone to pick with some people. First of all, why did I even have to put those first two sentences in? If I am to criticize any group other than my own I run the risk of being labeled one of the listed above. Label me if you wish, but here goes:
Religion in Public schools: I will pray in my head if I want to. If I want to write a cross on my backpack, I should be allowed to. I am perfectly fine with atheists and Jews and Muslims and all other religions placing their symbols on their clothing and such also. If no one is forcing a religion down my throught and forcing paraphanalia into my hand, let us be!
Homosexuals: Hypothetically speaking: heterosexual people want a "Straight Pride Parade." I know that gays are not given as much respect and acceptance as they should. But I also feel as if it's taboo to shout out "I'm STRAIGHT!!!!!"
Minority groups: I am SOOO sorry for the troubles and struggles you and your ancestors and parents and others. I am also sorry for what I am about to say. I don't believe in Affirmative Action- TO SOME DEGREE. I don't belive in jobs choosing someone less qualified than another person based on color or heritage (I'll be getting to the spoiled rich kids later). My mother works at a job where Affirmative Action is in effect. A management possition opened up in her department. She didn't desire it at all, but 3 of her co-workers did. All were white (one female, two males). No minorities wanted the position, even though it was offered to them. The person in charge of filling the position was then told to get a minority in for the position or don't fill it at all. One unqualified black man applied, and he recieved the position. Although this is only one case, I trust you understand the position I am coming from.
Ivy League Schools: May seem to conflict last point: Let someone in that will give some diversity to the "upperclass!" Why must every descendent of "Joe Smith" be accepted, and not the poor city boy with a 4.0?
Feminists: I thank you for what you have done for me. I have so many more liberties now that you spent your lives fighting for. But I hate how we strive for equal rights, yet stop when it comes to being put on the draft list and such. The (few Wink ) awful things a man has to worry about in his life are the few things we seem to forget about in our battle for equal liberties.
I have so much to say, but I will end for now.
****And for all of you who are angry at me and think I am all of the things I listed above, listen to what I have to say now. We all bleed red. We are all human. Why must we separate ourselves into Jew Christian Muslim Buddhist Gay Straight Black White and everything in between. I'm proud of who I am, but that doesn't require a list plastered on my back saying who I am. I guess I don't know what I am talking about. Let the hate mail start rolling in.

...I disagree with some of what you said.

On feminism: While I've heard the accusation hundreds of times, I don't think I've ever heard or read of a true feminist oppose women being drafted.

On homosexuality: See, the thing is, every time you or I walk down the street holding hands with our heterosexual counter-part, it kind of is like a straight pride parade. Pride parades exist for *****s to lift the oppression that's been put on them for so long. And I'm sure if you screamed "I'm straight!" you'd get less funny/mean responses than if you screamed "I'm gay!".

Other than that, I agree with you. Totally.

Love, Jenny

P.S. I'm sorry you were afraid you'd be shot down for expressing your opinions. Some people here really need to chill out, but I hope you'll find it's easy enough to ignore them.

I see nothing wrong at all with what you stated. Those who would label you racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., have some kind of hypersensitivity issue and probably blow up at every other thing anyway. Either that, or they can't stand your opinions and are resorting to namecalling because they can't think of a mature way to disagree with you. In any case, I pretty much agree with everything you said. Don't worry about offending people; just express yourself. People who are that easily offended will probably die of a heart attack before they hit 40. :P

...Okay, I know that I probably offended people with that sick little joke, but after so many years of giving people little mini heart attacks with my big opinionated mouth/typing hand, I somehow don't care. Razz

You stated your opinions in a way that was both frank and respectful. Thank God there are still people like you left in the world! The people who have an RRG to say about this are stupid RRGs themselves. Go 'head, girl!

Peace,

Birdy Cool

P.S.: 'RRG' is my new curse word to stop cursing. Think of it as the 'curse word patch'. (I should market that thing; then I could make millions.) Big Grin

You go Legallylindsey!!!!! As they say over here where I live "YOU ARE DA BOMB", lol I'm being serious here. Honestly, you told everyone what you think about many certain subjects without judging other people or doing any other thing most people do when ONLY sharing views on something. That shows some real smarts and understanding for others. That shows you aren't scared to tell them what you think and that's really great.
YOU STOOD UP FOR YOURSELF IN A MANNER THAT WOULD NOT CRITICIZE ANYONE OR MAKE THEM FEEL LIKE THEY ARE WRONG BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT VIEWS AS YOU.YOU MADE IT CLEAR YOU WILL UNDERSTAND AND NOT CHANGE WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN!!!!!!!!
Well, Bye N Have a nice day

Uhm..

Any person with sense would agree with you. Select others have personal issues they wish to take out on others who are different.
