I mostly like Alternative and Rock: Nirvana, The Hives, The Datsuns, The Dandy Warhols, The White Stripes, The Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, The Lemonheads, Brassy, Red Hot Chilli Peppers… I've also got a really cool cd of 60s dance tracks. Pure class. Just love it. -Pen

dashalli... you like ska? i am not overly fond of it, but i am partial to some of the more jazzy songs, such as "pink belly" ~ rustic overtones. have you heard that song? it's terrific. i have even learned that horn melody over on several instruments... lol... that makes me a dork, i suppose, but i don't care... it's a good time. haha... talk to ya later

i'm just now realizing that... haha... michael w. smith is great... speaking of which... that's the other favority music form of mine. christian... not all of it though... some of it annoys me actually... but worship and most other contemporary and fairly mellow stuff i like... such as caleb carruth and shane bernard... the song "breath of god" is one of my favorites. and by the way... i noticed that "c'mon" in lord of the rings as well... lol... somewhat absurd. in medievil days, they most likely would have made their words more chopy and distinct. but who knows?... maybe they were drinking a little too much... haha... aaaaaaaanyways... talk to ya later, dude.

quote: I like anything that doesn't put down people's sex, race, religion, sexual prefences, killing themselves.
does this mean you don't like music that puts down people killing themself? just wondering if you meant it that way or if it came out wrong... jazzman

other...what a great term. i like indie anything..well almost. ya see, i like punk influenced indie, but i also enjoy classics that will never ever ever die, like Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepellin, Bob Marley, Greatful Dead, The Doors, etc. I also like just well written stuff like Billy Joel and Elton John and The beatles and stuff. being a musician myself, i gues it has to make me feel euphoric from the inside out, and it has to be well crafted. Ska rules!

i am very picky about my music. I can't say i like a genre of music because i usually only like 50 percent of the musicians in that genre. Take rap for example: I hate Nelly, Hate Jay-Z. Love eminem, tupac, and nas, and dr dre Classical Love Beethoven, Alexander Morovsky( noone knows about him but's my favorite. He's so under rated) Hate Bach. Rock: Kind of like Avril, like matchbox twenty, goo goo dolls. Hate good charlotte. However, i LOVE ALL TYPES OF OLDIES! I should have born in the sixties and been a flower child!

*sigh*... finally a topic we aren't biting each other's heads off about. so you love classical music? i rather enjoy it myself, as well. have you ever listened to wynton marsalis' (sorry, i'm obsessed with most of his music, whether it be jazz or classical... he is still the only person to have ever received a grammy in both the jazz and classical genre in the same year... ) rendition of "carnival of venice" ? it is truly one of the most impressive pieces of music literature i have heard all around. at least when wynton is playing it. another excellent jazz/classical trumpeter is arturo sandoval. he needs no introduction either. who are your favorite composers, musicians, and bands of the classical idiom? one of mine is obviously wynton marsalis. others include: boston pops, new york philharmonic orchestra, and the united states air force band of liberty wind ensemble (which actually visited my town of caribou, maine just recently. shortly after them, just yesterday, in fact, the airmen of note also came to caribou to give a concert and workshops to high school and middle school jazz band participants. they are the premier military jazz band, spawning directly from glen miller's army air corps. sorry for the overshare, lol.) my favorite composers are: john williams, aaron copland, frank tichelli, jack stamp, and robert w. smith. later and god bless ~jazzman

None taken.Everyone has their taste.I'm just a music freak. Can't go wrong with me really.Unless it's one person singing an extened part of the song in a single note. That can get old.lol ~Luthien I declare I've never seen more rain and cloudy weather in This part of the country b4!It's supposed to be dry in this season!lol

I think classical-instrumental is the best. I can't stand jazz, gospel, or pop music, though. No offense to anyone who likes that type of music.

I don't think we have Kazaa on this comp but my brother downloads lots of music.Often, sice he lives in Waco now, he makes me CD's or cassetes of my favorite songs, not just jazz but anything, and i listen to those. I'm not very good with song titles, much less artists, lol, but some of my favorites are Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Les Brown, Tommy Dorcey, and Benny Goodman. Like any of them?lol ~Luthien P.S.: Is there a supressed memory you have about Kenny G.?lol just teasing.

if you have kazaa, you should download some of their music.. here's a list of some of their better songs:
happy go lucky local portrait of louis armstrong main stem the mooche cottontail c jam blues anitra's dance blue cellophane
those are actually all origionally duke ellington's works, but the LCJO does most of his charts. if you want to hear somebody truly amazing, look for a cd, or any song by wycliffe gordon. he is a phenomenal trombonist. the following songs are the most spectacular:
What?! mood indigo sweet georgia brown the hallelujah shout green chimneys it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing blooz... first thaingh dis moanin'
those are most of the songs that highlight his unrealistic ability to play the slide trombone... he will play some rhythms that are nearly impossible for most saxaphonists and trumpeters... let alone trombonists.
who are your favorite jazz musicians? please don't say kenny g... i may cry if you do... lol
