Your friends are losers. (Not because they like rap but because they are sterotypical.) Like whatever you like. Love whatever you love. Race doesn't matter. (And you don't have to be a punk to like rock or metal.)
You can like whatever kind of music you want. It's not like you can change your taste in music anyway. If you despise rap (like me), no matter how much you listen to it and pretend to enjoy it, you'll still despise rap. I love rock too and I happen to live in an area where country music is the big thing. Most of my friends are always listening to country and no matter how much i listen to it, it still puts me to sleep. If your friends don't like your music, that's their problem, not yours.
Don't worry im white and I love rap and hiphop and R&B. My b/f and his cousin are REALLY into like death metal and stuff like that. I am always getting there Cr@p. But I don't care what they think. I like the music I like and it's not there ears so they don't have to listen to it.

She's being sarcastic, dude. You get used to it. Anyway, I don't think it's wrong. I mean, music isn't the most important issue for race. But really, you can't judge a book by its cover. I mean, I've met crazy stereotypical gangsta rapper type guys with hearts of gold. Really, it doesn't matter what music you like, as long as it's not the stuff MTV force feeds you.
I hate that whole stereotype that Blacks can't like anything but the whole "gangsta" scene and rap and hip-hop, ya know? Just like White people are called "******s" (awfulw ord by the way) just because they're into what is CONSIDERED to be "Black culture" it drives me crazy!!!! Personally I don't think you should be friends with people who can't be ta all open minded to music clothing and whatnot that differs from A) what THEY like or B) what is considered uniform for their race or culture. My point is that you shouldn't have to hide your likes or interests from your friends! Be yourself! If you like rock, then good for you for being open to something different. Best wishes, Quebby
