Yay! Congradulations.

Class and meeting went over well. I am planning out my "stern talking to with gentle threats" talk which I will have to give to someone tomorrow. She got added to my mock trial team as one of our witnesses. She is supposedly unable to meet out of class and is unwilling to even read her witness's statement; she expects us to tell her exactly what she's supposed to say (which in the real world is called "coaching" a witness and can get you a mistrial). I am the one who is ultimately responsible for every word that comes out of her mouth while she is on the stand, and my and the other 3 members of the team's grades are based on how well she is prepped. If I don't feel like she is appropriately prepared, I won't put her on the stand. I will double as a witness and take the stand before I let someone else kill my grade. (If she doesn't take the stand, it would probably be an automatic fail for the mock trial for her and then the highest grade she could hope for in the class would be a 70% C-.) Hopefully I can just get her to shape up her act and to recognize that her attitude of "I'm not a pre-law student. I'm in architecture, it's very time-consuming and I need this to be my easiest class" is absolutely inappropriate.

I am so overwhelmed with life. Today I have class 9:55-12:35. Then I have a mock trial meeting that I don't feel prepared for at 12:45 until probably 2. From there I will likely go directly to work for 3; on Thursdays I usually get home around 5:45. YAB meeting at 7; I would guess an hour, but I have no clue. Once that is over, I am sure I will still have mock trial stuff to prepare and I have a Legal Issues quiz tomorrow that I need to study for. (I got a 10/10 on last week's and I want to keep up the streak. )

Yeah, it really is, Amp. I felt like such a horrible person. On another note, I'm finding out that I really love photography. I use to take photography when I was in high school and I forgot how much I loved it. But now that I have a digital camera I'm remembering how much I really like it.

I forgot there was meat in the pot and it burned. I was watching some clips from Richard Pryor. I'm never leaving anything on the stove while I'm on the computer again.

FINALLY DONE! It's still not totally polished, but I think it will work itself out when I'm speaking. Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the jury: I am sure that many would agree that there are few things more painful than seeing those we care about being hurt. The difference between us and the defendant is that we don't kill those who hurt them. Pat Stone-Flint was married and she and her husband had their problems just like any other married couple. Her husband Freddie was very influential in beginning the LEAP (Learn to Earn A Paycheck) program at Temple High School. Pat chose to devote her time, money and effort to the program as well; she knew what it was like to be a struggling student. Little did she know it would be one of the students this very program sought to help who would fire the bullet which ultimately took her life on May 7, 1999. Sam Krupp is being charged with Voluntary Manslaughter in the death of Pat Stone-Flint. This means the killing was intentional, but lacking in premeditation. The defense will argue that Sam was acting in defense of Freddie. However, you will see evidence and hear from witnesses who knew the Stone-Flints and were at the scene of the crime, which will prove that Ms. Krupp nor Mr. Stone-Flint were in imminent danger and, thus, Sam was not thinking reasonably when she felt that it was necessary to take the life of Pat Stone-Flint. Sam Krupp may look like your average 18-year-old girl, but she has had a rather troubled past, gotten into some trouble and has been given multiple second chances in life. She made an impression on her LEAP teacher Freddie Stone-Flint and the two developed a strong friendship that continued outside of the classroom. During a class ski weekend, Sam overheard some argument between the Stone-Flints and later sent an e-mail to Freddie suggesting the two seek a divorce. On May 7, 1999, Freddie sent Sam to his home to retrieve tools to be used for an after school project. Sam entered the garage and became distracted from her task by Pat’s gun cabinet. She proceeded to take out a .357 magnum revolver and hold it in her hands. Hearing an intruder in her home, Pat rushed into the garage and grabbed the nearest object, a garden hoe. It was at this point that Freddie entered the garage. Then, supposedly sensing that she and/or Freddie’s lives were in danger, Sam shot Pat…and, being an excellent target shooter, she shot to kill. Ladies and gentlemen, order and justice are necessary to keep our society safe. While desires to give Sam Krupp yet another chance in life are admirable, our compassion cannot outweigh our need to protect our community through disciplining those who deserve it. The weighty task is now going to be up to you to see that Pat’s death will not go unpunished and that her killer is appropriately brought to justice.

I finally went to bed at 2, without having finished my opening statement. I got up at 7 (an hour early) to finish it. It's still not done, mainly because I think it's necessary to shower and wake up before doing homework...
