Yes, yes. Check everything thoroughly, is the best bet. If all else fails, try to recreate them from memory. They'll never be as good as the first version, but if there's a key line you remember, maybe that'll help.

Hm. I always keep my writings in at least two places, sometimes three. I have my novels and prose on my computer, ipod (as a backup hard drive) and in hard copy. It's good if you can't take one of them with you, so just in case something happens to one of them, you have copies elsewhere. The ipod is extremely handy, because it's small and easy to carry around.

lyrical havent put any to a tune yet gotta find the note book that has them in it (also has important email addresses)
