I think that it's nice that people who need welfare can have it available to use..... until they can get back on their feet again. But I know it's wrong when you use welfare as a way of life. Yesterday this lady told me that she was on welfare for ten years!!!!!!!!! I think that's wrong. Welfare should not be used constantly.... and if you can avoid using it I think you should. That is more than enought time to find a job and get back on your feet. It really makes me mad when people just abuse the systems that are made to help people. When I was little we were going through some majorly tough times but we still never went on welfare. I don't know if I feel this way about welfare because of those tough times or what but I do know that when somebody tells me that they were on welfare for ten years I get pretty upset. What do you think? amyteachout@guidinglightmission.org

Well JoBet you just may get that wish come true. The government and states government are always passing new reforms on welfare and are constantly trying new ways to help people become motivated instead of relying on the system. One of the biggest things that have been reformed in my state(Michigan) is the drug testing reform which requires people who are on wellfare to take drug tests in order to recieve there checks from the state. If they have a dirty drop then no check, but if it is clean then they will still continue to recieve help but as allways there are people out there who will do nothing and find ways of abusing the system that was set up to help people who have fallen on hard times.

yeah... it would seem to be really hard though to get people motivated. I think it would be a thing where they just had to do it. Some how there should be a system made where people can't abuse it.

Unfortunately you are right about wellfare. We live in a society that abuses what we have and learns to take the easy way out. For some that is to hitch on to the 'freebies' and never lift a finger again. I just hope that we can find ways to make people motivated to take action in their lives.
