I'm a little unhsppy about teen amgazines like Seventeen, Teen and YM. It seems like all they ever talk about is hair, make up, fashion and boys. Not that teen s shouldn't care about hair, make up fashion and boys, but I think we should care about things deeper than that. Things like current events, politics, books, or making a difference. It makes me angry that the editors of the magazines don't seem to realize that's there's more to s than hair, makeup, fashion, and boys. That isn't very encouraging to younger s who are comming to terms with what being a woman is all about. It makes them think that that's all s can and should be concerned about.

From my readings, yeah Ym magazine does have a whole lotta advice for your hair and makeup and tons of celebrity crap. But, if you've really read the magazine, you'd noticed there actually are real life issues. Sex and Health questions for the curious, real life situations lived by kids our age, and list of books empowering young women. Besides, these things are meant to entertain. They''re are mags for the serious. If you don't find one you like, make your own.

Well, I have a subscription to Guideposts for Teens and Seventeen. GP4T is a Christian magazine for teens, so automatically they have good articles (which by the way are NOT about makeup and clothes and celebrities). Seventeen has gotten better with the articles. Now they have articles that are deeper than what kind of eyeshadow goes best with your skin tone. And as for the way you talk about teen magazines, I have 3 words for you: Don't hate, appreciate.

YES! Exactly! It doesn't really bother me that they talk about a lot of the "silly stuff" like makeup, hair, and boys, but they make the "silly stuff" seem like the really important stuff.
Aren't things like politics more important? I would love to hear at least one teen's views on the Hoover administration during the years of the Great Depression. And what about literature? It seems like the only things teens read these days are magazines and websites. I'd like, just once, to be able to ask someone my age what they thought about the symbolism used in The Lord of the Flies and have them know what I'm talking about. I mean, I'm not saying there's no one out there who would understand, I'm just saying that people need to think more in-depth about things. Some teens need to realize that there is something more important than fashion.
