No, it is clear that youthNOISE has a FAR LEFT bias. But that is fine, I guess. I dont own the site and therefore cannot regulate fairness on the boards, but the rules were insane. "Don't pick on the veterans" is an idiotic thing to say. If it was my first day on the site, which it is not (I was registered Sept 19, 2001), and I came to this board, I would still find it idiotic. But am I not allowed to criticize the over 60+ rules to follow because that mught be construed as "picking on the veterans." It is to the point that this is happening: "I know that I am only new, and most don't take what I say seriously yet, but in this case I felt that I had to make a comment. I have only been signed up to YN for 2 days and I have already witnessed many brutal attacks against Celtic by Jamaica. I can understand someone wanting to voice their opinion, but I feel that those remarks definately crossed the line."-Ipperwash, Dec 5. "I just thought that I should apologise to Jamaica. I just read the rules for "newbies" and since I am one, I'm not allowed to disagree with your tactics until I've been here longer. In a few months I'll have to take that apology back though since I still find your remarks disgusting, but for now I am sorry."-Ipperwash, 30 min later. If this is not some sort of brainwashing technique, I don't know what is. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for creating this monster of sucking up just to have people read your post. As I have said in an earlier post this is elitist, the thing that all you liberals pretend to fight against. Some one has to stand up for equality, whether you have 10,000 posts or nine.

Hydrok, that's overstating it. We definitely do tend to favor those who have been around a while over those who haven't, but it's quite possible to be respected from day one, just as it's quite possible to be here for two years and still be frowned upon by everyone. Grammatical correctness and arrogance are probably the two things we tend to most often overlook when veterans are guilty of it. Otherwise, the playing ground is surprisingly fair; newbiness is a handicap it's quite possible to overcome without adhering to some of the stupider rules on this thread (which were obviously meant as jokes). quote: Originally posted by Hydrok: You cant argue with them or even start a thread because chances are good someone has already made that thread, but its been pushed to page 52 in the forum.
This isn't the case. We just don't much care for those ignorant enough to assume such things as abortion and gay marriage are not already being discussed. quote: which is funny, I was on another site for 8 months, had accumulated over 2800 posts, but I still treat every new member with respect.
That's a good attitude to have, and I try to share it, but you have to admit that when Gemini or Kharbydis goes a little hard on a newbie who questionably deserves what he or she is getting, it's hilarious. quote: Also all of my posts had to do with something that required a bit of thought process, the fastest way to leave noobhood is to participate in the randomosity boards, and just keep spaming em like everyone else does.
Thoughtful posts are obviously good, but the "spam" on the Randomosity board has its place as well. YN is a bit like a school in that department: there's serious issues being discussed in every room, but the halls are full of random crap, and both are necessary to maintaining the delicate ecosystem. Also, if you'll notice, when somebody tries to just jump in on the Randomosity board, they're usually ignored (unless they have something especially funny to say). It really works the other way around, Hydrok: the fastest way to leave noobhood is to impress us on the other boards. Then you can spend your days merrily B.S.-ing around with your new chums on the Randomosity board. quote: Originally posted by Bushsupporter: -Do not disagree with drug use/any other illegal activities. -Do not disagree with uncontrolled sex, adultury, pre-marital sex, or any other sexual acts you might find immoral. -Do not support any ideology to the right of Howard Dean and Norm Chomsky. Only views to the left of theirs will be considered valid.
We're more than willing to hear out opposing viewpoints from newbies, so long as they're respectful and based on actual facts. YN has a left-wing bias; I won't try to deny that. Still, we're an open-minded crowd here to discuss these issues; if our beliefs were ironclad, I don't think we'd come. But if you oppose the majority viewpoint with a ridiculously arrogant attitude (e.g. "to make you afraid of the superiority of the conservative veiwpoint"), you can expect to be highly disliked.
And then, as the books were told, Fina replied: "A can of worms, my dear friend? What has this to do with reason?"

Wrong. It's a matter of whether you're an idiot or not; doens't matter what side. This board was written during an idiot newbie plague. You don't need 1000 posts to be respected. Aguagon and northstar were respected before they reached that. Also, if you're controversial with ideas or something it'll take time for people to get used to you. At least, this was my case.

Dont let them fool you bushsupporter, they will attack you no matter what your position is, left or right, if you have under 1000 posts, It could be the most well thought out argument you've ever made, and someone will tell you not to pick on the veterans. You cant argue with them or even start a thread because chances are good someone has already made that thread, but its been pushed to page 52 in the forum. So yeah, everyone sucks until they hit 1000 apparently... which is funny, I was on another site for 8 months, had accumulated over 2800 posts, but I still treat every new member with respect. Also all of my posts had to do with something that required a bit of thought process, the fastest way to leave noobhood is to participate in the randomosity boards, and just keep spaming em like everyone else does.

Fair enough. I never said all of the rules were stupid, just more than half.

I was only summarizing the dribble that has filled three pages. More than half of those "rules" were repetitive, attacking, absurd, and elitist. I would never disrespect someone else's argument just because it is their first. I guess I just expected more from you guys.

So... Let me get this straight. After reading three pages of "rules/guidlines" I have been able to come up with a summary to save any "newbies" the time and effort: -Don't disagree with people who have been here longer than you, they know more. -Don't disagree with anyone whose religion is other than Christianity or Judism. Those two are fair game. -Do not defend Christianity or Judism. -Especially don't disagree with people who don't practice any religion. -Do not disagree with drug use/any other illegal activities. -Do not disagree with uncontrolled sex, adultury, pre-marital sex, or any other sexual acts you might find immoral. -Do not support any ideology to the right of Howard Dean and Norm Chomsky. Only views to the left of theirs will be considered valid. -People will only respect you if you agree with them. If you do not they will make this "site hell for you." Now that you have read this and if you follow it, you will be ready for some good, old fashioned, conformist fun. Welcome to youthNOISE, and remember, "Don't think, feeling is easier." *bump* The newbie guide should never fall too far back.

It would be better if veterans and people who seem to think they are veterans, thanks to inflated post counts due to the fact that they talk to themselves... would quit thinking that they are above everyone.

don't know if these have been said but here i go: 1. dunt talk like dis cuz it rilly bugs us... or @least me. 2. don't start threads on dumb things(ie: pictures of jokes you've found on the internet. Joeydauben has yet to conquer this) 3. don't be too sure of yourself, OR pick on the veterans, believe me, they'll chew you to bits.

Yeah, there is something of a complex social working below the mundane kids-in-action image YN promotes. But we're kinda like monkeys: study us from afar from a while, learn our ways, and then make an effort to fit in (while never compromising your own beliefs, of course). Aśś-kissing is not really needed, just intelligence, coherence, ability to articulate points in writing, and a sense of humor. Although you probably should make an effort kiss up to geminiangel, as she is our Queen.
