Haha, funny you should ask about this fish, my roommate got one a few months ago and we were clueless. The water needs to be changed AT LEAST once a week. And make sure that the clean water is distilled (as in, it's been sitting in a bowel for at least 24 hours out in the normal room temperature) before you put the fish in it. Also, you want to make sure the fish has a large tank so that it has plenty of room to swim. Otherwise they get really unhappy and die. It helps to have rocks, plants and other things (also need to be cleaned every week) in there too. And make sure the fish has the right food. I think you can get special betta fish food at just about any pet store. Good luck!!

When you change the water, whatever you do don't wash the bowl with soap. Otherwise, just change the water occasionally, keep up the oxygen. The fish could look wilty because the oxygen is it's water is too low. Either shake the water your going to put it in around alot, or get a straw and blow bubbles into it, seriously As for feeding, i forget about that, my sisters didn't live that long because she cleaned the bowl with soap and destroyed it's gills. Betta fish aren't particularly tough, they can die for apparently no reason.
