I just finished Brave New World by Aldous Huxley for the second time. The possibility of the world in that book being our world someday is terrifying!

yeah, the lady is pretty amazing. i couldn't put her book down until i was finished. i think "eating" in italy was my favorite part. i love to gorge on good food and indulge as much as possible. don't be jealous. keep in mind that her book is based on a true story, i am sure there were many embellishments. it's definitely a great example of all the wonderful things that can happen even after a tragedy (like divorce). i felt very inspired and i would love to take a year off and travel to "find myself."

Liang, "Naked Economics" sounds really good. I need a book like that so my eyes don't glaze over as soon as I start reading about economics. marinab, I love Elizabeth Gilbert, too! She's amazing, but I have to admit I haven't finished the book because I'm so jealous of her. I want to do that! My sister saw her speak in Santa Barbara and said she was just such a cool person.

I've read Tristram Shandy, which is funny as hell. Things Fall Apart by Achebe, which is a serious and interesting book, so glad I read it! Just finished Matigari, which is serious AND funny, a great mix.

I just read Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I know I know... it's very cheesy. A woman realizes that she does not like her life and desperately wants to change it, so she takes a year off to travel and find herself.
I recommend it!

I just finished David Sedaris' new book, "When You Are Engulfed in Flames"-- hilarious. And I'm almost done with A.J. Jacobs' "The Know-It-All," where he reads the Encyclopedia Britannica from A to Z. It's really interesting and entertaining. I think I may need to cave and read "Twilight" since everyone keeps talking about it...

Twilight is like a really hard kick in the gonads, no one should ever read it. Just sayin'... As Meat Loves Salt by Maria McCann is one of the best books I've ever read, and certainly THE best romance novel I've ever read.

I don't read a lot of grown up books, but I like Darren Shan. Pretty much everything he writes is entertaining even if it is YA Fiction. He wrote the Demonata series and the Cirque du Freak books. They aren't extremely meaningful but they're entertaining.

Uh I've recently read the Twilight saga. That was really good about Vampires and romance.... Also, I'm reading the series Uglies (there is 2 sequels, Pretties and Specials) and I'm on the Pretties. It's really good. It's about a community and when you are 16 you turn "pretty" and you get like everything you want, but one girl finds a flaw and has to decidde to stay pretty or not....its really interesting cause they have all these cool technologies. Like hoverboards.....Awesome.
