Thanks, though, but seriously, as a public official I am not off-limits to any type of criticism, satire, etc.

I know what slander is, but thanks. Also, I would like to mention that it's curious that all of a sudden the things that were actually slander were removed... like the pictures of Joey (That really shocked me that you all even put his picture up) saying 'He's not a real journalist' blah blah. That may of been smart, but I did notice.

Oh, and slander isn't limited to "oral" communication.

I would hardly call my reaction havoc. You've done this before. You knew the reaction you would get from some YNers. Both the coalition and the YNers contribute to it, but it wouldn't start without you.

I may be wrong but I didn't think it was considered libel if the person being slandered was a public figure. Therefore, BS the mayor would not be libelous as he is a public figure.

I must be a masochist because I looked at the coalition's excuse for a website. I would like to mention that if I were Joey Dauben I would look into what laws there are about slander and such and figure out how to get you all for posting his picture on your site and defiling his name. I usually mess around with you all and comment just for kicks, but I'm serious this time. That is really low. I do not think YN, should even allow you to post the link to something that makes someone, especially another YNer look bad that that. You all have no sense of respect for other people. Very tacky and childish.

Attempting to make a fictitious statement a fact is not.
That would be libel, that would be unethical.

I can have the opinion that that that the mayor od Midlothian or Wachahachie is cheating on his wife. But, if I put it in my editorial and cannot back it up, it is libel.

What that has to do with the presence of ethics, I have no idea.
