I finally found out the answer to the question I'd wondered about for years.

The gospel today was about not being showy about your faith...but then about 15 minutes later, we all get ashes put on our foreheads to wear around for the world to see. Isn't that contradictory?

I asked the priest about it, and he said that the gospel mainly spoke of having faith on the outside, but not on the inside. Basically, we need to make sure that we are faithful in our private life before we open it up to the world. Or something like that...

I have figured out what I am giving up for Lent.

I am giving up looking at my feet when I walk. I think I need to hold my head high to go along with my "HELLO WORLD" personality.

I abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and Fridays...it isn't fun when you're traveling and you have to eat fast food, but it's really not that big of a deal.

Well, when i said fast, I guess i didn't really mean eat less food. I meant not eat meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all of the Fridays during Lent. However, in Louisiana, that isn't really giving up much, because seafood is in season during Lent, so people use it as an excuse to eat delicious foods such as boiled crawfish and crabs and shrimp, so it really isn't that much of a fast.

I don't fast on Ash Wednesday or Good Friday. I don't feel comfortable doing it because I don't eat a lot at any given time, so I'm concerned about my food intake for the day.

I think there are better ways to honor His sacrifice.

I'm not giving anything to anyone.
