yeah, i open doors for people too, and carry things for people when they need a hand, that's the way i was raised - to be polite. but after years of opening my own car door, i've become accustomed to it and someone having to run around a car to fiddle with a door that i could manage on my own seems trivial and too much. i don't confuse politeness with being patronized, haha, i just dont like the added attention. i never know what to say in those situations. "gee, thanks!"? it wasn't feminist mumbo jumbo seeping out of me before, it was my own insecurities on the practice as a whole. although, i could spread some feminist mumbo jumbo on pretty thick...haha, j/k.

My point was that girls shave too and the the question asked "would you rather shave or have cramps" It's hard for girls to answer because they do both. Not to mention that not many guys shave their legs and/or armpits.

yes, it does suc.... id take shaving and feminism. im independant, proud, and intolerant to pain. And why is it that people confuse being polite with being patronized by men. i always thought feminism was about the idea that women and men are equal? like equal pay and status. I'm a woman and i pull out chairs for people too. does that make me, whats the word..... darn....chilvilary towards men? (dont know if i used it right, but just work with it, K? im trying.)
I want to be unique, just like everybody else.

haha, i don't believe that i have ever asked/told someone NOT to open the door for me. i am quite aware that this practice is done mostly by courteous and well-meaning fellows/ladies. i'm just talking about when it is unnecessary for someone to come all the way around a car and open a door that i am fully capable of opening myself. i don't like people having to do everything for me. i had no idea that could make a "stupid radical feminist."

Well sheesh, you know that was compensated for when you had everything provided for you. But NOOOOO, you just HAD to get out of the kitchen didn't you. Now who will make my sandwiches?
There is something to what you say but seriously make your own sandwiches.

In India beinfg a feminist means to fight for reserved bus seats and reservation for government at the same time . Thats what I mean about not being a feminist.

Fina made a much better thread about feminism and chivalry. I'll see if the search function will work for me, and try to find it. If not, I guess you'll all have to live with this. quote: then again i think i'm biased cuz i'm one of them.
Heh. Really? Biased? Naw. quote: Now who will make my sandwiches?
I made you a sandwich. You were sleeping, so I ate it. That's your fault.
What if what you think is great, really is great, but it's not as great as something greater?

guy's are better. then again i think i'm biased cuz i'm one of them. now that i think of it most guys are selfish basterds. so i guess girls are better. no, girls tend to be manipulative bi+ches. i have decided i just hate everyone. but wait, at the core, everyone is good hearted. they are just ignorant of the truth. never mind just ignore me. i have no opinion.

Stupid radical feminists. Fine, I won't open doors for you and pull out your seat. Just don't complain when I tell you to make your own dinner instead of me making it for you. I like be chivalrous. It gives me a sense of...I don't know. Need perhaps. I hold doors open for girls. Haven't had one tell me not to yet. That'd really annoy me, though. Makes me glad no one's done that. Jeez, what has the world come to when women don't want men to be nice?

*mmmm....listening to ani difranco... i shave (my legs only when i feel like it) but i like opening my own car door (unless my arms are bound to my chest, or i am otherwise unable to do it on my own) i don't know, i just don't like it, there isn't a particular reason. but cramps aren't that bad, well, if you don't take medication for the pain, which then makes you feel like you've been hit by a pile of bricks for the next couple of months...but the ones after that aren't bad. herb tea is the greatest. darn those drug companies, making us dependent on them.

i'd take shaving over the cramps any day. I think there should be some kind of balance between feminism and chivalry. Personally I think there are pros and cons to being a female or being a male.
