Amp, you are wrong, because according to scientific theory, we use exact numbers such as 2 and 5 as only an abbreviation of 2x10^n and 5x10^n because the number of zeros to indicate such an exact number would be redundant. It all depends on the situation, you cannot make a global statement like that.

right but they do the exact same thing with mathmatics the level of exactness in a calculation is determined by how many decimal places you go out to so if you use so called "exact" numbers you are using the lowest level of exactness possible

You may not be able to have an item that is perfectly exact...but we're not talking about items, we're talking about numbers. Numbers are not bound by the laws of science.

You college students think you know so much... Go ask a math teacher no number is perfectly exact. You cannot have 1 apple, or 1 hat or even exactly 1 pair of jeans because of fun fluctuations of atomic mass you end up with 1.*insert mobious strip here* hats or apples or whatever. We use exact numbers because we percieve one of a thing not because it actually is one of a thing. As I said below we use exact numbers because using decimals constantly would make things extremely complicated (That'll be $1.35503435346

No that def is in fact a lie because there is no such thing as a real exact number exact numbers are used because we don't want to screw with decimals all the time therefore by that logical irrational numbers are actually real numbers so the irrational numbers are rational

I isn't irrational, it's imaginary. Therefore, pi wins.
