Hear me, listen to my voice. I want to be heard, like most of you do. When people look at me some say, “ She’s just another teen.” They don't take the time to listen. JUST another teen! What is that? What does it mean? I am not just another 16 year old high school student. I am someone, I am becoming someone. I have decided to become a voice for teens who are or have been victims of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and sexual abuse. This is so hard to accomplish because no one wants to hear about it. As I was once told, “It’s a really touchy subject.” So are you going sit back and let this happen? Do you really care? Do know what it does to a person? I’m not going to sit here and let that happen, yes I really do care and I do know what it can do to a person. From working with the women’s center to trying to start a group at my high school for teens in these situations, I feel my voice is like a whisper in a screaming crowd. Where ever I go I tell people about my idea’s, ways to help those in these situations. My dream is to be remembered in a way like no other. Will you help reach my dreams..my meaning of success? Will you be the wind beneath my wings to help my fly? In other words, Do YOU believe it only takes one voice to make a difference? I'd like to hear your opinions. THANKS!
You Go girl -- Jsut by you even posting that your "One Voice" is being heard Praise God that you have a paasion to help those in need as do I..I would love to help you more maybe you can halp me with a site I am building --Praise God!!!! Email me!
well, sometimes it does get fustrating to see those milliionares spending tons of money on useless things when they can actually use those money to save a child, or help a school. But then again, they are not the only one who does that, everyday ppl do it too. Not neccessarily with money, more usuallly with attitudes. a smile can usually just brighten one's day. but you don't see alot of ppl smiling, a conversation can just make a new friend, but you don't see that a lot either. so what i'm saying is, changes does have to be those great money donations, it starts from very little things like a hug. or a simple friendly hello. So if you are tired of seeing celebrities wasting their money, why don't you start making a change yourself?
If only one voice in heard from the crowd then it make a world of a difference. Since if someone truely believes in something then they will never give up until they are heard and something is done about it. So if the older generations will do nothing then it is our time to stand up and fight until the end.
I am a definite believer in the power of "one voice"....everything has to start somewhere, right?? but this forum proves that fortunately we don't have to do it alone.....there are plenty of people out there (yes, even teens....come on, where do you think puts the "youth" in YOUTHnoise??) who do care and are willing to help. I'm in a position where I have to organize teens and convince them to get active and it may be the most frustrating thing I have ever done. BUT I also think it's one of the most important. you can't lose hope or your faith in people, and if you do come back to this website where so many teens are being active in some way. ***anyone need support for a cause let me know!!
I do belive that it only takes one voice, but most people are afraid of what people might think of them.An example of this is say your group of friend that you normally hang out with are picking on the new girl,or the gay guy.Are you going to stop them,or would you rather keep your friends and hurt another person? So yes we have the power but we don't use it to our advantage.
Sorry guys should have made this clear. "It only takes one voice to make a difference" this means, one voice to start it all. It only takes ONE. ONE person to state their opinion & then people add on. Someone had said that the victims should be heard. Well if you have ever had to deal w/ any of those issues, you would know that it takes so much to speak up about it. Most of the time people wont speak up, this is why I am saying I choose to be a voice for them. Let them know someone wants to listen & they shouldnt be scared. I mean think about it a women gets raped every 6 min. How many of these women speak up about it?......I'm all ears ..let me know what you think
i think ur onto something, but... one voice? my opinion is kinda hard to state but, if teens are victims.. should it be his or her voice heard?!shouldn't we just try to help thier voices be heard and not make ourselves as their medium to be heard? ..just asking ..i don't mean anything
"My dream is to be remembered in a way like no other. Will you help reach my dreams..my meaning of success? Will you be the wind beneath my wings to help my fly? In other words, Do YOU believe it only takes one voice to make a difference? " well appearently you don't hehe
but yes of course one voice can, but it never hurts to have help. watson and crick would be nowhere without each other or... what was the lady's name who died after she found the structure od dna? oh well , obviously the promblem is remembering more than one person's voice's name...
i would like to quote elle woods, "One honest voice is louder than a crowd's" or something to that effect... i'm a bit specptical about the movie still but legally blonde II had some good quotes like that one and "Your dogs are GAYYY!" gotta love a conservitive southern senator with a gay dog... neways... sorry i ramble
Don't give up. Someday, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, maybe not for a long time, but someday, your voice will be heard. And not just heard, but listened to! I thought that was kinda the whole point of this site, to help us remember that.
no, i dont believe, unfortunately, that it only takes one voice to be heard...ppl think then that youre just "weird", even if you may be right. When trying to turn an issue around and do something about it, we want to have friends, other teenagers, and family protesting along w/ us so that our society full of idiots can get whats REALLY right thru their small heads.
but, dont worry - whats this website for?? It's called YOUTHNOISE!!! we're all called to make a differnce together in this world.
Are you kidding?? Adults are the very ones wh otell others to look away!! What we must do is stand up together! This year at my school i was telling one of my teachers that i was getting some kids together to change some school rules. Cause i feel they are out dated and a bit over the top. And i was talking bout reasonable compermises like having the teachers deciding if they would like to keep the rules up in their classroom. (it was a start) My teacher LAUGHED! i mean he laughed hard and said "I really don't think teens can work together that good...you can try...it's up to you!" and i was appaulled! This was a young adult too! just out of college! Can you image? We need to work together to fight this view on teens! Me and a few other members of youthnoise are writing to our state senators to tell them we want thewir support in making a teens U.N. If you would like to be a part of it...email me! We need t ostand up together! We have the power! Let's take it! Let's stop being angry with everone and use that energy else where! Let's Do It!!!
Hey, I believe it does only takes one voice, but that one voice does need help, whehter they like it or not. You sound like you have great ideas, Maybe you should try telling your ideas to more adults andpeople with the power to help you. SOmetimes teens can be stubborn and just say, "wutever" don't give up, the world needs more poeple like you.
