First off, that's a really stupid poll since you only give one option. And marijuana is not physically addictive.

And that's a ridiculous blanket statement. While its certainly true of some, it doesn't represent all of us who do things like smoke weed.

I smoke weed and I'm more mentally sharp than a lot of people who don't. It all depends on whether you do it in moderation or not, most people who smoke weed are not mindless burnouts. Some of our most revered thinkers and artists have smoked weed and used other substances. I'm not saying using some substances is right, simply that just because someone does it doesn't mean they are severely brain damaged or just doing it for the image.

I agree. There is the factor of peer pressure, but its not so significant as the "my life sucks". There's just so many probelms a kid could have and so drugs become the answer. Its a pretty screwy way to deal with problems, but I think its because that's the only solution to everything. They don't expect people to understand and that's why they don't seek help from other places. I think that's how I would feel.

The alcohol thing I think is not a "just cool" thing as well. Why do some college kids drink so much? Because its just fun. It liberates them from their stress. Dropping the age for drinking would do nothing. It wouldn't lower the temptation at all. I personally don't believe in lowering the drinking age because a lot of studies have shown that the majority of people can't handle alcohol until that age. Its just a precautionary.

So before we judge people who do drugs, I think there's a lot to consider what they have personally gone through. I'm not saying its a good thing. I'm just saying its still wrong to judge.

Many people are doing drugs and drinking alcohol just because of peer pressure. What about the people who aren't?

The kids who have been raped and are afraid to tell their parents? Or what about the guy who is doing it to rebel against his family who wouldn't let him do anything?

All of these things are bad, and in my opinion should be taken away but sometimes these things are used as a way to forget.

Before we ban all alcoholic beverages we need to understand why people drink it. We need to change the way people are treated, but we can't. So there is no way for us to get rid of alcohol or ban marijuana.

You dont really have a right to call them stupid. You dont know what their problem is and why they're doing it so you dont have a right to say. Instead of judging them you could try helping them. And try to understand why they are doing it. You dont know maybe their doing it because it helps them to relieve off stress, which is not true and is bad. But who knows. So dont tell them off because you dont know what their reasons are.
