lol i kno my last post didn't make much sense but it was late at night...what i am trying to say is i can't like any pres. that takes away from our comunrties future. And i consider teens and kids our future. Taxes in our town have gone way up and it makes it harder on alot of people. Bush seems to care more about our countries standings in the world then about our country's condition. He like strike now talk later. He likes to use military and believes war can bring a safe time to our country but war doesn't do anything. In our country we stood up for freedom. We were really to run ourselves. Other countries are not. It's ok to help them to a point but if we interfear like we have then how will they learn to fight back? A revolution is something a a country and it's people have to discover themselves. And they will just like America did. It just takes time.

I am not sure i would prefer Gore over Bush but at the same time a Pres. does not think a head. He makes speakes about things that in all means no one cares about. He cut school funds and other important funds which i don't even want to start nameing right now cause it will make me sick...to get more money for war! In my classroom at school we are always short on paper! and school activity prices are going way up! Like each person had to pay $10 to go on a bus like a mile down the street for science to get to a little pond to get sample water to test and such for science. It never cost anything before! Our school is brand new...and it needs supplies that the small new buget can't afford. How can he take away from the countries future! Someday the kids would grow up and take his place and all the other adults and we (since we can't educate properly without cetain things that the buget is suppose to cover) will not be perpared enough. Ok i am rambling! but Bush has taken away from all of our education and that is wrong! if my school is affected so my school is affected this much then others are worst! think bout it.

i dont think really like bush, and i dont think he's the sharpest tool in the shed. but i think that if gore had won the election that there is no way he could of done a better job. i like laura bush, but i dont like hilary clinton, because she likes 2 talk alot of cr@p, specially about others.

Bex, I think you're referring to nationalism. And, as far as I know, most Americans would rather complain about the government than actually try and improve it.

Not liking your president doesn't mean you aren't patriotic. You can love your country without loving the people who run it. Anyway, I don't think anything could diminish the reputation of America for being patriotic. Actually, toning it down a bit wouldn't be such a bad thing. Sorry - the British aren't patriotic by and large, and when another country is they tend to sit there going 'what are you so proud about? Wipe that smirk off your face and complain like we do'. Quite seriously, I think too much patriotism is a bad thing. Blind enthusiasm for your country in disregard of its actions is foolish and it leads to mistakes. People can use patriotism to whip people up into a fervour about their country or their race and get them to do stupid things (thinking of Nazi Germany here…) Be proud of your country's many great achievements, but don't let it blind you to reality. If your government is doing something you don't agree with you should let them know about it. Who cares whether what you're saying is unpatriotic, if it's the truth? What's the big deal? Criticize as much as you want. I mean if people here said 'if you don't like Tony Blair you're not patriotic and you're a bad British citizen' the general reaction would be 'huh?' I don't get it. don't hate him, but i don't love him. i think gore would have made a great president. laura bush isn't as cool as hillary clinton. neither of them were/are all that exciting, if you think about it.
does anyone else agree with me that the title to this post is a bit confusing?

i personally support bush and think that he has done as good a job as anyone else would have done in this situation. In reply to whoever said "If you can support him, why can't some people dislike him", I think that it is a matter of patriotism. Sure, you have every right not to like him, but don't make a big public deal about it....that gives Americans a reputation of being unpatriotic towards our country.

I think Bush is a far better President than Gore would ever be and I like Laura Bush a whole lot better than Hillary Clinton.
