Well, I find out tomorrow how I did in my School Board campaign.

I have three opponents, have raised a little over $1,000, have the yard signs, have the brochures, have the phone lists and I have the endorsements/support.

Pray - or hope - I get a ton of votes tomorrow!

I'll keep this post updated as far as election night returns go.

By the way ...I started out in journalism when I was a junior in high school, and then here I am - almost two years at The Ellis County Press.

Also, my campaign raised over $1,000 -- that's not bad, either I don't think Smile

I have no college experience, that's what is the cool thing about it.

Dabbed in a journalism class and was on the school paper for a year in high school, but I was blessed with talent, and got some big breaks.

That link should give you a brief background; I'm planning to overhaul my Bio page to include various links to journalism-related sites --- I want more people to get involved in that as well as politics.

Thanks for your interest, too Smile It only makes me want to get better.

unfortunatly, in politics, the one with the most money usually wins.

Which is why i don't plan to get into politics.

By the way joey, if you are only 22, when did you start becoming a news reporter? Did you go to college? If so, where did you go?

Just wanted to know more information since i want to be a journalist as well when i graduate from highschool.

Believe it or not, I'm not the youngest.

A guy by the name of Mike Hendrix ran for Midlothian school board when he was 18 years old.

He lost by three votes, too, which really sucked.

But now he owns his own campaign consulting company in Austin.

And I'm 22.

Interesting Note: the winner of my race is a millionaire developer.

Well, I'm not disappointed by the results, because if anything, people know who I am now, and I'll more than likely be back next year:

Midlothian ISD School Board Place 2

Dirk Younts 315
Joey Dauben 297
Tom Boyle 243
Damon Miller 153

Good luck to you Joey,
Even though I don't agree with you on most views, it’s good to see a young person actually getting involved in the political realm.
