Then, in your following posting, after referring you to very helpful, informative, educational sites, you state: “Some people, like me, need the medication that they're own. May I ask you a couple of blunt questions? When you boldly state “without my PrevAcid, I would have killed myself by now;” who are you empowering now… yourself (like you did in your original posting), or the drug? Secondly, if you’re not talking about medication or mental or psychological reasons, then do you believe having the thought of killing yourself is for purely physical reasons outside of what you think and feel?
Amaris.. my purpose for asking you these questions is to have you think for YOU… Who said or even inferred that we should take away all medication? You are guessing incorrectly. Nevertheless, like every other choice one makes in his or her life, I strongly encourage for everyone to read the side effects of their prescribed medication, to inquire and research more about any type of medication that they are ready to place in their bodies. Balance is a good thing in everything we do as human beings. Why not be safe than sorry? Why not depend on yourself to live as opposed to drugs, and empower you for your beautiful existence in this world? If medication is absolutely necessary, and you have done your thorough research, and you make an educated decision to take a certain drug, then great, as you know what is best for you. But if you are taking medication without taking all the extra steps to protect your long-term health and wellbeing through careful research, education, and constant inquiries, then that would be a blind decision for which, one may never know the side effects until it’s too late. Please think things through carefully, and work on establishing balance in your life. You deserve a good life, you deserve to shine just like everyone else.

Parents do what they feel is best for their child so if the professionals are telling you your child needs help and the choice is pychotropic drugs you believe in the professional world and do what you feel will help your child.In the case of Shaina Dunkle I can personally tell you the choices made were the deadliest decisions that could have been made.In one reply an individual stated why would Mrs. Dunkle put her child on a drug knowing the side effects were dangerous.This is where informed consents are being violated and we are not told the right information. From day one I was told this was the best decision I could do to help my child to succeed, the drugs were safe and effective in treatment, the side effects were minimial. I was given a hand out from the pharmacy and the pychiatrist explained the minimal side effects. Let me tell you after the death of my 10 year old daughter I was presented with a packet insert from the pharmacutical company and what an eye opener. The minimal side effects were not minimal at all they were sever and information that should have been provided at day one.I was angry because if this information would have been provide for us at the beginning in no way would our daughter have taken it.We would have not risk our daughters life at all. You see we were told that side effects could be blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, loss of appetite, loss of sleep.Now comes the real world of the drugging can cause cardiomyopathy, tachycardia, seizures, tics, weight loss, insomnia.WARNING: there has been an acute collapse in an 8 year old child that led to sudden cardiac death and more noted since.Where was this information and why wasn't it provide for us from the beginning. So to the person that said why would we give it knowing it was dangerous WE DIDN'T KNOW.You see they tell you what they want you to know not what you need to know. Packet inserts should be provide before your child is placed on any drug for any reason not after the fact.We were not warned appropriately about the side effects and if we would have been our precious 10 year old Shaina would not be dead.

Everyone has ADD. We cannot keep our minds on one subject all the time. That doesn't need medication.
Mrs. Dunkle should not have given her daughter that medication if she new it was unsafe. But, a lot of the medications out there are unsafe and people need to realize that. People die from headache medications, pain pills, ect. Why isn't that taken into consideration? People die from all sorts of things. I guess we should take away all medication.

As human beings, there is no doubt we all make our share of mistakes. I would have to partially agree with you in the sense that Doctors have our lives in their hands once we set foot in a hospital, then at that point in time, one fatal mistake can certainly cause one’s death, paralysis, who knows what else. I truly do not envy a doctor’s position, as I do not envy a Judge’s position. On the upside, however, let’s also acknowledge that there are always exceptions to every rule. Regarding the issue of an adult’s life is more important than a child’s life: If you don’t mind, can you please tell me what truly makes you think this, even worse, believe this? You and I both know that without children, there can be no society, there can be no life as we know it… it is a life long cycle… If this society was just filled with adults, then like dinosaurs, we will become extinct. Children are the lifeline of our present and future. Children grow to be our future leaders in all walks of life, whether that may be in science, history, archeology, music, the arts, and so much more… Children give us joy, give loving parents, guardians, and our world as we know it, the incentive to keep going. Children in itself are priceless contributions / treasures to this world.
I would like to share something with you, something my grandmother always told me while growing up: In life, you’re always going to have the good and the bad. A lot of times, the bad will outweigh the good. Nevertheless, out of adversities, challenges, and struggles, a true leader emerges. If you see something bad, don’t just express it. Do something about it, and shift the balance.

You are correct in the statement that parents are definitely not placing guns on their children's heads to take prescribed drugs. I would also like to commend you on your independent will, as I have been that way all my life and can relate to your thinking wholeheartedly.
Nevertheless, most children, growing up, truly have no choices, and if they do, probably are not aware that they in fact can make a choice and stick to it as you did, as I did, despite Doctor's orders and parental decisions.
Also, you may or may not be aware of this, parents who fight to protect the health of their children, face charges and threats of medical neglect, and in worst case scenarios, these kids end up being taken away because parents are against medicating their children. There is so much going on out there that we are not aware of, and to make it worse, parents are misinformed.

Who is "forcing" the kids to take the drug? What I'm saying is, the death risk in minimal, 1000's of people die because of accidents doctors did, and EVERYONE has at least one doctor.
A life is a life to me, but the fact is an adults life is worth more then a child, why do you think you can't get life insurance on kids? They dont contribute to society, they are just little consumer wh0res.
as much as it is important to realize that ADHD is probably an over-used label, there still are people with ADHD/ADD. it's been capitalized upon unrightously, but don't go to the opposite extreme. It's horrible to see doctors over-prescribe medications and to see a loss of life because of that, that's aweful, wrong. but that's the individual doctor, and while there are too many clones of those doctors, it has unfairly pushed all doctors and all who TRUELY suffer from ADHD/ADD into a harder position.
Yes WOW! A 10 year old child DIED... that is a HUGE WOW! If I am understanding your post correctly, please do not devalue the importance of one's life and know what it is that you want before you make a bold statement that "Yeah, you want it too."
It is absolutely irrelevant as to whether one individual died, 10, or 10 million - as this could have very well been you or me if we were diagnosed with a fraudulant disorder as children. Imagine taking 21 pills a day as a quick fix to a diagnosis that's non-existent? Imagine having suicidal depression, ticks, and possible cardiac arrests? Imagine if you were one of those children who was abused at home, or even possibly molested, and instead of school personnel trying to find out what is truly bothering you, they place you in the ADHD category and label you, when in fact, there is absolutely nothing wrong with you outside of the fact that you came from a dysfuntional home?
You are fortunate that you have a voice, and that is YOUR WINNING LOTTO TICKET TO LIFE! Children are dying because they have no voice. Do you have any idea what these stimulants can do to you? I urge you to read the post below by freeflow. Then say "Yeah... you want it too." And then, please go to www.ablechild.org and read what's happening out there to these kids who are being coerced into medication. Then, and only then, please come back and make your bold statement: Yeah.. I want it too!"
And... if you come back and make that statement just for the fun of it, know that that is no cause for celebration, and your statement would be empty, hollow, void of substance.
Please take a hard look around, read about the facts, and value LIFE period for both you and for everyone else who lives, and respect those who are physically no longer with us and died with a purpose. That precious 10 year old child who died is one that I personally know of, and who’s ill-fated death will save lives. By you devaluing and minimizing the importance of one life to justify an empty statement that "yeah you want it to", you are minimizing the importance of your life, and everyone else who cares about you. Think about it.

Please do not be upset with the posting. The pure intention of the posting is to encourage courageous individuals like yourself to come out and speak. You are absolutely correct. The posting does absolutely NO justice for individuals like yourself who are living through the nightmare, who are fighting to get off these dangerous drugs, who are fighting for their lives, their essence, their present and future.
You are correct, I as the poster have not lived through the effects of such dangerous medication, nevertheless I, like many, grew up with painful challenges, especially in the school system, including but not limited to beatings for being gifted. All my life, I fought through the system, and as you know, it was and is no walk in the park. Life is a challenge as it is, and my concern is that children truly have no voice in such matters, and children are dying as a result thereof.
