This would surely spark an interesting conversation;

If NOISEmakers were running for office (pick a party) and were elected to Congress, what bills, laws, measures, statutes, etc. would you sponsor or endorse - and vote for?

Or what programs would you try to implement to make government smaller or bigger?

This should be fun.

Why would you illegalize hunting? I mean, isn't eating domesticated worse than wild? Think about it, domesticated animals are slaughtered, they have absolutely no chance at survival, plus, they're pumped full of antibiotics and kept in little pens/cages/etc. To me, that's worse than someone going out hunting for animals, animals that have a fair chance of survival, that can roam where they please. But hey, maybe that's just me.

and it's rather silly to say that if you were congressman, you'd ban wars. Maybe if you were the ruler of the world, or something weird like that.

LOL, gothboy sounds like quite a gimp there. Illegalizing drug dealing would continue to keep gangsters, etc as the dealers, and illegalizing firearms would let those who dont follow the laws assault anyone without having to worry abouot them defending themselves.

Here would be my actions:
1.Immediately eliminate the Homeland Security act
2.Eliminate the Patriot act
3.Release all non violent federal drug offenders
4.Release any other victimless criminals
5.Legalize drug possession, sale, production, create a subdivision of the FDA for recreational substances.
6.Repeal the National Firearms Act
7.Scrap the selective service
8.Withdraw all foreign millitary aid and drug war aid
9.Elimate federal welfare, leave it to the states
10.Deregulate various frequencies, etc, for use by the public at large and not corporations.
11.Set aside more wildlife reserves
12.Eliminate the ONDCP, DEA, etc (obviously)

If i were president, I would legalize possession of drugs but keep drug dealing illegal, legalize homosexual marriages and adoptions, abolish death penalty, keep affimative action, separate church and state, make it a hate crime to attack someone because of their clothes, make guns illegal, make hunting illegal, and no wars!

In all seriousness, I would, in my general policies, try to focus on following the Constitution and Bill of Rights except for the second amendment but espescially for the first. (Freedom of religion all the way!)

I would refrain from war at nearly all costs unless (1) the United States itself is under threat unless we go to war and (2) there is absolutely no other way to have social change in other parts of the world occur.

Environmentalism would be very high on my list. I would illegalize all hunting (so that meat only comes from farms) EXCEPT in cases where certain non-human animals are operpopulated due to a lack of a natrual predator. In that case, I would assign certain government workers to each kill an exact number of the animal - I would keep it out of civilian hands. The most extreme thing I would do would be to illegalize cars in all cases except for emergency vehicles. I would replace cars with public transportation.

I guess that's about all the thought I've ever given to the subject, since I'm not planning on ever actually running.

Me? First off, I'd try to emulate my hero Joey Dauben and silence anyone who uses that terrible phrase "political correctness." Then I'd convict all known liberals to life sentances and illegalize abortion.

I would then remove the phrase "global warming" from all textbooks, as the phenomenon simply does not exist, it's that simple.

After having a quiet talk with all homosexuals asking them to please change their sexual orientation before I stone them with stones, all of our problems would be solved.

*cough* sarcasm *cough*

i'd probably support the position of the highest biding special interest group and become the puppet of said group till i was rich.

then buy an island. big grin

no seriously? go to the local colleges and debate with the kids, to get a good idea of what the little whipper snappers are concerned about..... and let them know that i do care about what they have to say. (they don't give me that impression these days, though us youngens are coming up in the world.)

I'd definitely run as a Green Party candidate. While in the senate i'd work tirelessly to revive the potency of the Clean Air and Water Act. I'd also broaden the Animal Welfare Act, so that it would include animals on farms and birds, mice. So much more would be done if I was in office, but those are the first things that come to my mind.

Joey, you need to read my post. Nowhere did I even use the words 'inferior' or 'supirior'. I said specifically that it isn't a moral issue, it's a factual one. People are not 'white' and they're not 'black'. It's really that simple.

I'm not a ****ing liberal. Just because I share some views with them doesn't mean I am one of them. That'd be like saying just because I have hair I must be a dog. Or just because I look like my mom means I'm my mom. Clearly, that's not possible, and rather stupid to even think about.

Anyway, I meant the "congresswoman" thing rather lightly, so don't get your panties in a twist.

outspoken, political correctness is what liberals use!

So how can you claim you're not liberal and then in turn say that some PC-ness is not all that bad?

I have obviously been politically incorrect, therefore offending you --- so yes, you are liberal!

And I wasn't even referring to the congressman/woman deal - that was an error on my part, because, in fact, it is proper language to use "Congresswoman."

But, I made a note of it so please accept my correction.

Dante, you're absolutely wrong.

If I'm considered white and you're considered white (assuming you are white), then make it "equal" across the board - blacks are black and whites are white.

Stop trying to perpetuate this "inferior/superior" mentality with your PC statements.

If you want to refer to blacks as African-American, by all means, go right ahead.

But I won't just for the simple fact that I'm considered white, so why can't blacks be considered black?

And if anything I say offends anybody else, then well, tough luck - stop being so PC.

Joey, I have a few choice words (mostly consisting of four letters, if you catch my drift) but as I am in an unusually good mood, I'll keep them in my head.

I AM NOT A LIBERAL. Would it help if I wrote it in French, Spanish, Flemish? Honestly, I told you once, quite nicely in fact, that you cannot possible determine what I am or am not. Please desist, it's getting rather, well, overused, dull, obnoxious. So please stop.

since when is the word 'congresswoman' a moral issue? It's factually correct. That's it, end of story.
Black is not factually correct. I don't know anyone whose skin is black or white. I even know albinos (of both races no less) and they're more of an off-white still; plus I'd hardly call an african-american albino "black".
It's more "right" than you can claim to be by providing false monikers. God forbid a woman desire to be called such. God forbid you have to make a whole extra syllable's worth of energy to say "wo", the apathy it must take to stay so fixated on being wrong...

outspoken, yeah, unfortunately you're a liberal.

Being politically correct is very bad; see, PC-pushing people try to silence the "bigot" opinions and beliefs of the moral, conservative folks.

In Canada, preachers can get fined for speaking out against homosexuals - this is the PC crowd doing this!

In America, many blacks want to be called African-American, but I'm sorry, that's not going to happen; those are pro-PC people.

I cannot think of any good thing associated with being politically correct.

PC also uses words like "tolerance," "cultural diversity" and "open mindedness."

And don't worry about implying anything about me - I'm considered a bigot, insensitive, rude and whatever else people want to call me.

But most of all though, I'm right.

Yes Joey, I told you, I'm not a liberal at all (certainly not by your standards). By equality, I mean equal rights between the sexes (and races also). I cannot be a Congressman, nor a postman, but a Congresswoman and a postal worker. Being politically correct isn't all bad you know. I've figured it out that I annoy people by being politically correct, but at least they don't think I'm a bigot. (not implying that people think you're a bigot)

Outspoken, explain to me what you mean by equality?

You're sounding more like me (also from a previous post on another forum) and libertarians are far from Communists.

damn those women that don't want to be called men...

Oh, and if I was a representative....I'd be only one of 455 and unlikely to get anything done or change much at all...a sad life it would be.

Now if the question was, "if you were dictator for a day, what would you do?" well, by just being the dictator you'd probably reduce governmet by 98%....small government indeed.
